Surprisingly this builds is quite friendly to the decorations. Release/*** might need some adjustment but overall pretty friendly for mine.

Back in my day you needed 10 points in order to get in the ability unlocked. So imagine in order to get attack up (s) small you needed at least 10 points in attack decoratons skill1 / skill2- (slots) Ex1: Attack +6/ reload speed +3 00 Ex2: Attack+10/ handicraft+4 000 Example one will be a good Gunner charm. You need 4 more points to get attack up(s) and 7 more points to get your reload speed up one level. And it has two slots to fit extra ability points in. attack was a smaller decoration so you can fit two in it's slots, making it +8. reload speed is a medium size decoration so you can only fit 1 The second charm straight out gives you defense up small and you only need 6 points for handicraft. and it has 3 slots so you can fit 3 small decos or one large one.

Also every armor set normally had a negative ability, so you do use charms to offset it if it was bad enough or make mix armor sets. So considering you have to worry about if a charm had an 1 or 2 abilities on it, weather if they were positive or negative, had enough slots extra slots. And all of these were random values that you have the mine during game called "charm runs". you literally just dedicate your entire day to just mining for special nodes that had a 20% drop chance. So needless to say that many little bit simpler. Looking Back Now I'm surprised I enjoy the game as much as I do. and this is basically has late as Monster Hunter 4u.😖

There's a better tank build using just the Brachi helm A + Safi 3 pc + Garuga pants with Agitator 5 charm. It has Attack 4 for extra dmg and 5% affinity plus Resentment 3 on armor , 2 in mantles (Gilder + Elemental). This gives you space to slot in Health boost 2 on armor for added survivability. 100% affinity on tenderised parts. Awakening: 3x Attack V, Spread cap 3 and Recoil Augment: Full Affinity The Raging Barchy set bonus is bait for tank HBG, it's only the new meta for no shield builds.

I realized something against high rank kirin back in the days with the glutton. It was pretty important to get as much damage as you can per shot. If you even make 1 less damage, he wouldn't fall that much and screws you over. So maybe it has something zo do, with the spare/not spare difference.

It's the math man. I made a HH with full resentment agitator and attack boost with all that you gain a full 74 attack bloat. Even more than the meta running peak performance.

I never run attack mods either affinity or sharpness. The less I have to put in the build the better. Attack is good but more than not you have to put affinity in the build. That cripples you in a way.. well with my builds anyway

I find the utility of spare shot come down to what monster you are hunting and how often you can down them. Unfortunately that's not a lot on a solo hunt but probably has much more utility in a group hunt.

makes sense but contrary to what you said .. spareshots do make a big diffrence - that's why all the speedruns you see .. majority have spareshot in the build - sometimes you're really looking for that spareshot to happen just to get the lock for that monster but this is of course in a scripted fight - in a normal hunt.. it might be a hit or miss

This was the conclusion I came to all the way back in world with xeno builds. Everyone was building around it while killing any build variety. I remember using the nerg HBG without spare shot and still doing way better because I had earplugs and a bunch of other stuff. If you have the walking reload, spareshot isn't that great. If monsters are hitting into your guard and then back out, the time spent reloading is negligible

The reason they don't is that there never is a large enough opening to unload an entire mag of 8 or 9 with spare shot. Most of us can't keep shooting 8 bullets plus spare shot while dodging the monsters atacks especially eith hbg.

Hello, I was hoping you could help me with a some of questions I have :). Does "awakening" the HBG make it more powerful (when it get it's wings)? I have my HBG at awakened level 26 but it has not changed form. I have no wings on it. I do have it upgraded with 4 Attack V and 1 Spread Capacity III, and I put a recoil mod on it. It's attack is 435. I have Loyal Thunder and it's attack is 420. When I go to the training area, both gun's pellets are doing 44 damage each. I also hit the target 189 times with each gun and Loyal Thunder did 7,705 damage, while Burstcannon did 7,704 Damage. I hadn't augmented either weapon and everything was kept the same (skills, gear, mods, etc. ) for both guns when I ran the tests. This leads me to believe I am doing something wrong and the fact that my gun has not changed forms might have something to do with it. At this point, I can augment each weapon equally.... so there isn't anything more I can do to Burstcannon that I can't do to Loyal Thunder (unless I'm missing something). I've tried searching online for my problem, but have come up empty. Thank you for any help you can offer me :)

wings = putting a shield mod. Your burst cannon should have 1 recoil sup, 3 Attack V , 1 Spread cap 3 *Having recoil supp as awakened ability would give you the ability to put more close range mods as compared to loyal thunder.

Wouldn’t the second set be worse than the third because it doesn’t have full agitator or resentment? Regardless of the spare shot it wouldn’t be outdoing the damage of the third because of the resentment or agitator. I’m not sure, it’s just a guess/question. by theory the second should win against the third. The reason why i didn't go full agitator on the second is because with agitator level 7 I gain 8 more attack if it's from level 5-7 with resentment 2 I get 10.

The math, by its nature, has to assume an ideal situation where the monster stays still and doesn't fight back. Under those conditions, yes, the spareshot would win. But actually playing the game is not within the realm of that ideal scenario. So while ideally it is best in reality it is lack luster.
