You should do a dedicated plier drawer video going through every single one that you use regularly and what they're good for and maybe rank them as to what order to buy them in or an essential top ten or something. You can't really see what they all are in this video. I'm sure some you see as essential and some that don't get used very often any insights would be appreciated. Big fan keep it up.

Hey mike can you make a video about mechanics wanting to get out off mechanic work ? I was a mechanic for 4 years for Nissan and now I am a service manager for Firestone for me it was a great choice because I no longer have to deal with the headaches that comes with the job nor do I have to spend thousands on tools and I make more money now . But I would love to see a video of your opinion !

I'm actually studying to be an automotive technician. And my college has a Nissan program that's part of the general automotive degree. So I'm probably gonna become a Nissan or Infiniti dealer tech. Is the pay any good. And do you have any tips
@michael23634 жыл бұрын
@@russelldimond2759 Nissan is a really good brand to work for but very strict with certifications so if you decided to become a Nissan tech I suggest that the moment you get your Nissan academy training to get it done as fast as possible . When I first got it I would spend normally 3 to 4 hours a day doing my training at home until i passed my requirement tests to do hands on training for each category . And pay well like any other job it depends on where you live but in my area staring pay is between $18-22hr depending on what’s experience you have, master techs make around $32-36hr and GTR techs make the most idk how much though . Oh and don’t expect to work on a GTR for about 7 to 8 years that is what the GTR techs told me It took them to be GTR certified since you have to be a ASE and Nissan certified master tech before you can take the class

I’ve been in the business for a little bit now, but I’ve newly started at a Honda dealership. With modern Honda’s would you still recommend picking up some JIS? I can’t say I’ve ever actually needed them, but would it help with some of their rotors screws and splash shield screws that appear to be #3 Phillips?

@Bones McGillicuddy it would be but in 9 years of doing the job I’ve never left a tool on a or in a customer’s vehicle but I’ve worked with plenty of guys who leave magnetic 🧲 lights on ppls cars and they get so made since most of the time when it happens a ticket wasn’t made fully on the car so they couldn’t get ahold of the customer that was just at the shop 😂😂 That’s why I don’t ever move faster then I want to rushing and moving quickly is when you make mistakes or even worse lose your overpriced tools in a customers vehicle which isn’t only super unprofessional but it shows that customer where your head was while working on their car. Plus you leave a dirty tool inside of a car not even under the hood like I’m actually in the cabin…that’s just straight unprofessional…. I have a system and I use tons of big magnetic metal and rubber trays never lose parts or tools

The heavier the socket the more force actually goes into the bolt because intertia of the socket turning really helps. Wish I had one the first time I did my timing on my old accord.
