Hey Paul. Thanks for sharing. Like the deep view of the scene. What you're facing is pretty challenging. Ending the overpass without screwing it and using the space with efficiency. Also like the building made out of Walthers Lakeville warehouse. Course those narrowed buildings are never long enough for me. But you're facing space issue here. It's not like you're dealing with too much of it. The way you've put together Magic Pan bakery is very interesting. You made a complete and wide industry out of a short one. Congrats. Like your work.

Paul, how wide is your new 7.5' extension? Thanks in advance. Tim
@HartfordWhaler10 күн бұрын
Hi Tim, it starts out around 34” at the beginning of the curve, then tapers down to 12”. So it’s mostly 12”.

Excellent modelling and details Paul -- you're giving me some good ideas! I assumed you "finger throw" your switches? I haven't decided whether to add some Caboose ground throws to my layout -- they detract from the looks, I think.
@HartfordWhaler10 күн бұрын
Thank you! Yes I use bamboo sticks or #5 knitting needles to throw the switches by hand. It’s why I like peco turnouts - they are pre-sprung. I’m not a fan of adding switch machines at every turnout. Also with a shelf layout, part of the fun is throwing the switches manually. Agree that the ground throws don’t look good. Too large, not to scale.

@@HartfordWhaler I'm unlikely to ever go there because Major League Baseball is not played there. I've been around it, sort of - when flying from New York to Boston. (I am in Australia, BTW). That's a really nice extension that looks great, expands operations noticeably and is well integrated into the existing layout. I'm very much looking forward to seeing it progress. The trailing point industry is a good use of that corner near the overpass. I've got a trailing point track in 'Midway Yard' that has track storage etc, like the prototype. The backdrops are a perfect match to everything else on the extension too. I've also got a Proto Throttle and it seems to randomly fire off the odd horn blast when I start some locos - seems yours does the same? The two Rapido Minnesota Commercial RS18Us I bought a while back seem to run as nicely as anything else on my roster after a bit of running in - no doubt yours will too.
@HartfordWhaler9 күн бұрын
Thank you for the great comments. Very kind. I blew the horn in that shot, but my Rapido was doing a quick horn blast upon startup initially and turns out the horn command was in the startup setting (F8). I had to have a friend fix the programming. Could be that with yours. The PT shouldn’t do that on its own. Unless there is a way to configure startup in the PT to blow the horn (not sure). If any viewers have an idea let us know! Also, check with Don @PWMRR. He is good with PT and decoders. Thanks for watching!
@contributor72199 күн бұрын
@@HartfordWhaler Thanks for the reply and the PT throttle feedback. It seems to be a couple of my Soundtraxx-equipped locos that do the horn blast 'thing'. I've thought about factory resetting those two decoders, but truth told it hasn't bothered me enough to overcome my procrastination when it comes to all-things decoders. Maybe, one day...
