It's unclear to me with the new prorated billing in annual plans, can you still give editor seats to users and remove them, while only paying for the months they were editors? Or will you be forced to pay for them until the annual subscription renewal date? Sorry this was not clear in the video or help page, especially as in the example it says "Acme will continue to get monthly invoices for Jenny’s Full seat unless an admin proactively adds the monthly seat to their annual subscription.", sounding that there is no option to remove the seat?

Users will get added to your invoice prorated from the day an admin approves the seat upgrade through the end of your subscription term. On the Org/Ent plans, which are annual plans, you would pay for that seat until renewal. That seat can be re-assigned to someone else if needed. On the Pro plan, you could pay for for those extra seats on a monthly basis.

@@Figma by "through the end of your subscription term" do you mean the monthly or annual? For example if we are on an Pro annual plan that renewes every december and in January we add an editor and remove it in february, will be pay pay for that seat for one month, or are we stuck with that seat increase until december? (if we don't have extra annual seats that would cover this extra user)

This did not really answer can you still actually remove the extra seats during the year when on annual professional plan and NOT keep paying the rest of the year if they are no longer needed?

On the Professional plan, when you add extra paid seats throughout your annual subscription term, we’ll charge you a monthly subscription for just those seats. This helps you manage the cost of Figma if you have a portion of users who only need to pay for Figma for a short time. Once a seat is approved, it will be automatically added to your next monthly invoice. The cost of the seat will be prorated based on the day it was approved until the end of your current monthly billing term. You will continue to get monthly invoices for newly added seats unless you proactively add those seats to your annual subscription or remove the seats.

Thanks for clarifying this! As mentioned the wording on the support article informs how the new monthly billing sum is formed but it left unclear if "monthly seats" still exist and that you can still remove them anytime.

Can anyone get 3 days of temporary access without admin approval? Does that open the door for users to make changes they shouldn't in a file?

Anyone can request a seat upgrade and get 3 days of temporary access, but they can only make changes/edits to the file if they were given edit access to that file.

In case of a Professional Team plan, this mean that the user can no longer share a file with edit permissions and get (unintentionally) another billing? Or this admin level of approval is just for Organization and Enterprise?

On all plans, admins will have upfront control over upgrade requests in the new model. *By default*, any seat upgrade that incurs additional costs has to be approved by an admin. Admins can also customize the approval settings for each seat type.
