Why are so many of these about disabled toilets? I can tell you for a fact that as long as you aren't hogging the toilet nobody cares if you have to use one, not even people with a disability. Just get in, do what you have to do, and get out and you'll be fine. There are a lot of valid reasons a person without a disability would use a disabled toilet, and the rare people that put up a fit about that are pretty much always ablebodied people.

There's a misconception in the US that it's illegal for someone not disabled to use them. Mostly from people trying to discourage children from abusing them.

I was in the handicapped stall with my terminally ill friend who couldn’t walk by herself. A woman in a wheelchair and her mother come in to the restroom while we were in there. The disabled woman loudly say, “EVERY TIME, EVERY GD TIME, WHY DO ABLE BODIED PEOPLE WALK PAST 2 STALLS TO HOG THE ONE I-I-I-I-I NEED?!” She might as well slapped my across the face with a bag of dog sh*t, it hit me that hard, there I was with my 32 year old best friend who was dying from colon cancer, weighed about 87 pounds and there was no mistaking how sick she was. (For what it’s worth it was a Cracker Barrel restaurant, and I had picked her up from Florida to bring her to my house to care for her until her passing) I flew out of that stall and every mean thought and resentment I had ever stored away came out when I confronted that lady. I never yelled, but those darn tears popped out furiously. I can’t even remember what all I said but something to the effect of “who TF do you think you are, some kind of ROYALTY? You’re in a Cracker Barrel restroom, not the Ritz Carleton, how DARE you of ALL PEOPLE verbally attack someone because you have to wait a frikkin minute?!?!” My poor friend was just a few weeks away from death and I think my sadness about that also manifested. But the truth is, handicapped people can be extremely judgmental of “able bodied” people. We all have struggles, hers was just immediately presented, but we’re all fighting battles no one knows about. When my friend was finished and I helped her out of the stall you could see immediately the recognition of shame on especially the mom’s face. My friend Angel washed her hands and then said, “I hope none of us ever feel the way we all feel right now, ever again” and we left them to their precious handicapped stall. Rest in peace my beautiful Angel, I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since you left us.

Tbh if the handicap accessible stall is available and you have to go, then do it. It's not like a parking space.

Mine is more of a least proudest moment for my dad. I only have a vague recollection of the incident so this was told to me by him because I was only six years old when it happened: I was with him at the hardware store in the plumbing department and he couldn’t find what he needed. I remembered something Mr. Rogers had said about asking a grownup for help if you ever got lost or couldn’t find what you were looking for while shopping. (Note* The item we needed was a replacement part for our toilet). A few feet ahead I saw a man who looked like he worked there and told him, “My dad needs a B@|_|_c0c|< .” *YES* ,that’s what it’s actually called. My dad walked over to us, got all embarrassed, and apologized to the employee. Every Thanksgiving he likes to retell the story about the only time he *wasn’t* proud of me! Of course he’s joking. He says he never had the nerve to ask for help until after he was married and was *indeed* proud that I had taken what Mr. Rogers had said and applied it!

The larger stalls that are accessible aren’t EXCLUSIVE. They are there to accommodate someone in a wheelchair, but as you might have noticed they also often have the baby changing table. But if anyone ever says anything to you about it you can simply say “not all disabilities are visible, but thanks for making me feel horrible about my disability, I guess you think your handicap is *better* or more important than mine, I’d gladly swap health conditions at least everyone makes accommodations for you, is nice to you, holds doors open for you, and treats you with sympathy”

Mine is when I quickly became best friends with this super cool goth chick when I had no friends and we were hanging out just about 24/7 but when I got a cruddy online relationship I felt a tad weird having sleep overs with the chick and I then cut her off when she said she loved me and didn’t want to lose me as a friend. The online relationship lasted 3 years and it was just mental and emotional torture along with me spending hundreds to visit the gf just for her to make me feel bad for existing. I was thinking this today, what it would’ve been like to not go through with the online relationship and stick with my best friend who was 100% my type in every way at the time. Cutting her off really sucked, I could tell it messed her up..

Damn another time I was dating this girl online who was almost exactly like me but I felt like she brought out some of the toxicity in me so I left and now about a year and a half later she’s still posting about wishing I didn’t leave her behind just to be better. I do not feel good knowing I’m breaking hearts left and right, it makes me want to not connect with people Lmfao

Handicap stalls in the US are NOT reserved for people with handicaps. Anyone can use them. They are just handicapped accessable. Totally different story for parking spaces.

A friend of a friend rented a wheelchair at Disneyland and jumped all the lines with his nephews and family. The friend of a friend said her nephews successfully mirrored this tactic at a subsequent visit with his gf. Not sure if she’s least proud or most proud. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was homeless,i swore i would never stoop low enough to prostitude or beg for money. I kept that vow,but i was starving and when i walked by a dumpster and saw a pack of pringles I was desperate enough to check it - God was looking out for me because it was almost full and my favorite flavor sour cream and chives. Not gonna lie,I took it and ate it. It's nasty and I m not very proud of it,but hey,it was free food and it was good too

So many of these stories are about disabled toilets. I think if all the other stalls are available you should be using them as someone with a disability may need the disabled toilet .

I pretended to be a boy to go to the men's bathroom once. I have always had short hair and been a bit genderqueer and I wear men's clothes, so I can pass as a boy sort of. I really had to go at school one day and the girls room was PACKED, so I did. I used the boy's bathroom. In my defense, the whole boy's and girl's segregated bathrooms bs has always irked me. I don't even know what the genderfluid or non-binary kids were gonna do lol~

Well, if you have a vagina you go to the bathroom for people with vaginas, and if you have a penis then you go to the bathroom for people who have penises

I mean, that's how things have been ever since we had public restrooms....but then people said these new trans and queer identities could represent sex (not just gender which is a social identity) and now they want access to opposite sex restrooms....
