UPeepz came from their roots in the University of the Philippines (abbrev. UP, hence UPeepz). Currently, they're comprised of students/alum. from different schools and uni. They've been using that MJ song since 2015 (won Champion at WSB held in Brisbane, Australia). Most MegaCrews from the PH send out the max members (40px) ever since the division has been opened in 2011. The flips and tumblings add up points to the SKILLS criteria for scoring (other criteria is PERFORMANCE). Salute to the RF though as they're already icons. Love and peace from the Philippines!

Uppepz was influenced by Philippine All Stars who joined HHI way before RF. They first joined back in 2006 and won Gold for adult division in that same year then 2008 and 2009. PAS was featured as guest in Americas Best Dance Crew. I still see the influence of PAS in Upeepz and in a lot of dance crews in the Philippines.

Uppepz' style of dancing is more hip hop than RF. The elements of hip hop are there: locking, popping, krumping and break dancing with swag and precision. Even the music used by Uppepz is of hip hop genre. RF is more of jazz.

Fyi, The Philippine All Stars is the legendary Crew in World Hip hop Championship. At their time even up to this day, when u say Philippines, expect "Variety", they can do anything, from pop n lock, Vogue, acrobats, robotic act,flyers, etc. with a very clean routine. A force to be reckoned with.

UPeepz is short for UP people. UP means University of the Philippines. So they're basically representing UP. And that Michael Jackson song and choreography at the end were their salute to the dancing inmates of the Philippines, who went viral several years ago for their mass dancing mostly to MJ songs inside prison.

when filipinos have problem we put it in singing on videokes, some kids went to the grass to dance and do the thumblings. every fiesta or feast there are a lot of singinng contest, dance contest and beauty contest. That is why they really excel a lot. I was there in Philippines and witness how they showcase their talents. Poverty, problems, and stress on work my God after that they do all those stuff.

Do a research guys. Filipinos are dominating this one even before RF came its "phil. All star". Having the same choreo or sounds doesn't mean copying. Admit it, UPEEPZ has the best sound! That MJ's song at the end is a tribute to Cebu inmates who became popular few years ago for their dancing (insert massive numbers of inmates) just like upeeps, too many for the stage but hey! They nailed it, how hard it is to get that perfect and synchronized pops & locks with that huge group.

The name is derived from the state university UP (University of the Phlippines) where the group originated. I read somewhere in a post on the HHI channel, the group has expanded and currently includes dancers from other universities such as UST (University of Sto Tomas), ADMU (Ateneo de Manila University), DLSU (De La Salle Univeristy) etc. The next competition to watch out for is the World Supremacy Battlegrounds on Sept 9-11 at Sydney Australia. If I'm not mistaken no less than the Top 10 Mega Crews from the Phlippines are competing, including UPeepz, the defending champion in the Mega Crew category.

Filipinos have been dancing for years before royal family. Lyle beniga, keone Madrid, pat Cruz, Brian puspos, bam Martin just to name a few choreographers. As well as California dance crews that consist a lot of Filipinos. Grv, cookies, the company, team millennia and many more. On top of that smaller crews that have competed on tv and internationally like Jabbawockeez, super Crew, quest crew, kinjaz, brotherhood etc.

The University of the Philippines has been known to deliver awesome-despite-the-high-difficulty performances/routines, not just in dance moves but also in the CDC. I used to watch Sayaw Manila, a dance concert by the University of the Philippines Manila showing the dance crews from other campuses. It was wicked and awesome.
