As a consumer running a small business (travel agency), I miss hanging out at the coffee shop. And many in society have missed out on the social engagement that a sit down coffee experience provides. Is a drive through the ultimate goal for a coffee shop once the COVID pandemic ends? I don’t think it’s a 100% guarantee. Which ever way you coffee shop owners go, I’m rooting for you!

I used to own a bagel /coffee and deli restaurant. Anyone who can succeed in the food or beverage industry should be commended. It's alot of work and alot of labor. It's tough to find good employees in the food industry, unless they work for tips. It's tough to keep it running right of you aren't there. So, as she said kiss vacations goodbye. I worked for 6+ years with no vacation. We made our bagels from scratch. So labor was high. Making bagels daily is hard work and time consuming. Utilities are high. Space is needed. I like this type of business.... low rent, low labor rates, make coffee, sell coffee, and sandwiches with ingredients you can easily buy and resell. Good job on growing this business

@marcusg5665 Жыл бұрын
Same here. I'm in SC and the 'city' does not allow a trailer/food truck to be parked permanently; they also informed me that they only allow this type of business where there is high foot traffic (so downtown where a drive through doesn't really make sense). How are things going for you?
@marcusg5665 Жыл бұрын
@@danwake4431 A coffee trailer will probably have a limited supply compared to a stand. Your need for storage will be limited comparatively. That being said; if you are busy you will have to make stops to your trailer to re-up; probably only milk to be honest though. I'm hoping to have around 200 customers a day. If 3/4 of them are 'espresso drinks' using milk then I may have to have an extra ice chest with a few gallons of milk in it.

People ignore many expenses of a business - rent, renovation, labor, equipment, depreciation, repairs, utilities, supplies, waste, insurance, marketing, etc. - then in a good month when you are ready to collect a profit - don't forget to deduct for taxes. I believe most businesses in this age are money laundering fronts or business write offs for wealthy people. Margins are too small to survive

This is a neat perspective of a coffee shop that is likely rivaled with many other coffee shops in the area. I know when I lived in grants pass Oregon Dutch Bros. was a big deal. They were highly successful with multiple locations back around 2010. Cant even imagine how much that company has expanded now days. I knew a guy that knew the owner of dutch bros and they have a real cool story as well. its a great concept. I could see more of these style coffee shops doing well in Texas as there are not as many as there were out west. Maybe more now, its been a few years since Ive been out traveling. Although ya, was considering opening up a dutch brothers style coffee shop down in Austin around that time, just stayed as a possible opportunity in my mind, nonetheless it's always great to see people follow through with a business and find success. (LMAO just looked it up, dutch bros has about 500 more locations now than they did in 2010. Didnt even know they went public, reading the wiki, HOLY MOLY thats crazy growth, they have locations even in austin now. to funny really) good luck out there, love to see good success from such a competitive market

Two comments, blunt but honest so please take as such. #1 What is your exit strategy? Sell? Because to me it looks like what you have is a job rather than a business. It appears to be very lucrative, but for me my free time and semi retirement is very high on my goals list. I guess less of a critique and more of an inquiry. And #2... I completely disagree with you thoughts on punch card free redemption. Even if a guy comes in for 10days and buys a $3 each day then gets a free $7 drink every 11 days. You are still money ahead and I promise you that if you ever make a deal of someone redeeming their free drink it will do you more PR harm that all the free $7 drinks in the world. Don't chase pennies and end up missing dollars. I really appreciate your honesty and you gave me so much information. Thank you and keep up the great work. I'll come by if I'm ever in the area.

There's plenty of an open market within that economic sector. Starbucks is a norm now but its interesting to see new coffee shops to try out. So I do think a small business similar to this would be successful as a local stand.. Good luck :)

@@manadziveasv2418 that's really good :) especially next to a high school.. The perfect location.. I think drive thru is & has been a successful way for many food & beverage establishments.. Its a good feeling when you own & run a business.. Huge responsibility but best thing is the fact that providing jobs & keeping the economy going is best....

@@ivanhmunguia5576 unfortunately unless it’s big city and low rent square footage of someone sitting for hours on free wifi (costing me hundreds a month commercial rate). For maybe $6 drink in few hours doesn’t pay back, sorry it’s just reality of high rents right now. I had sit down large space and it made - income

From my 15 years business experience , Coffee shop is lot of work and it is very less profitable compare to other industry as well as, the sales of the best month of $35,000 is bit too low with employee and liability, Just to understand, if she has average margin of 35% of she is netting around $12k after inventory, If there are employee required, 1 or 2, that cost is around $40k/ year, Utility is about $600/month and Rent is around $2000(Average(In future)) , Total minimum expense/ month = 1650(Rent) + Utility (600) + $150 (Accounting Expense) + $400 (Marketing(optional))+ Worker comp insurance($100/month Guessing) + Business Insurance ($1800) + $500/month credit card fees. $3000 ( Employee Expense , If there are Any) = $6150(minimum Expense), So she can max make about $72k - $80k , From my Business Experience, I would not work 7 days to make about $72k - $80k for a business while I can make$70k - $80k with 4 year Tech degree With about 40 hr work schedule. From my view, if she wants to increase profit, she might need to stop loyalty and marketing program, because the coffee they make not every one around can make the same type of coffee, as well as offer cash discount to save on fees.

I am curious though. Did the freezer door get checked? And Sandy is right. Location is very important especially when it is a food business. Overall, this looks like a delightful business. Very informative. And I wish this women and her team all the best. Thanks for another video UpFill.

Whenever something involves sales, don’t get confused with net sales vs net profit. They could be losing money. It doesn’t matter how much you do in sales, only what your profit is
