One of my friends did this in the Phoenix area for years and retired from it. He also carried a "freeze" spray for the runny stuff. He made so much money and living in Phoenix, didn't have to deal with snow. I also made good money and had 8 people working with me in Ohio as a Pet Sitting Company (going to people's homes) which had a start up of around $500 which includes business license and insurance and poop bags. Such great businesses. I also retired from mine. I had my ad on my back window on our cars (didn't cost as much as a full ad all over vehicle. ) Both businesses don't have "overhead" unless you want an office. All can be done from your home.

@@charlesborel8493I’m not sure what you are asking but yes, I started this business broke at 55 yrs old after a divorce because no one would hire my age. (Truth). Someone asked me to pet sit in their home and they would pay me. I looked into it and realized it was good money. My company had sitters that visited 3 x a day for dogs, other animals depended on what they needed. I even had someone who just did cats for 4 hrs in middle of day (she also had another job). I also hired people for either mornings, afternoon or evening. They didn’t do all 3. They basic worked 3-4 hrs a day some weekends. We would do overnights for certain pets and medical pets also. I started doing all on my own. Hired 4 months into it. Grew it to a large, 6 figure income business. It pays well. BUT, it is a profession where you are dealing with live animals. You cannot skip a day you have to have a backup in case of illness or hospital stays. I wanted a business with integrity and professionalism. The gentleman who now has it makes a great 6 figure income. It is also a physical job. We averaged 48 pet sits a day. Yes, a day. I had $50 to my name when I started it. I borrowed from someone to get my biz license and insurance. I didn’t ever pay for advertising. I made a free webpage , learned SEO from a library book and got to the top of google search. Also I did find a petsit biz book with a cd that had contracts, info etc. papers for clients to fill out. I took pet cpr at the Red Cross back then. Now you can do it online. I treated it as a business, NOT a hobby. Yes, it’s possible. Also, I loved it and cried when I had to retire due to Multiple Sclerosis.

There will always be people willing to pay for a service that they just don't want to do themselves. I bet they don't walk their dogs either so this could easily be a 2 person business. 1 x scooping & 1 x walking. Don't forget the dog food delivery option. You'll need refrigeration for the meat loaf and room for bags or barrels of dry food. A dog food manufacturer will pay well to have a vehicle with their branding visiting dog owners all day. You could negotiate a supply deal where you can make big retail margin on selling their product. Expand the business web site to sell additional dog related products. Then there's the vet referrals earning a kickback that could also be expanded to include dog transport. Now scoop that poop!

As a service contractor of 40 plus years who builds client bases in a ten mile radius of the shop what I heard was: One tech can manage 150 homes, or 30 yards per day. This translates to 16 min per yard including travel. 8 min as claimed to do a yard fits with my huge back yard and two dogs, but only 8 min of travel between jobs would mean they are all in the same neighborhood, on the same block, or real close. I understand client density but this seems very best case, and rushing like that leads to accidents in the field or driving. Excellent presentation regardless, and this guys systems are solid and the golden key.

If they are in the same neighborhood, it could take 30 seconds to get to the next house. If you are servicing a lot of houses in that neighborhood, and then drive 15 minutes to another neighborhood, it can all average out. We have been domestic cleaners longer than I care to remember. It’s a passion, no holidays, we guarantee their service even if we have to reschedule. They guarantee our business even when they go away on holidays. We service a niche clientele who can afford to be maintained on our roster. We found prior to becoming selective that clients who went away wanted to save money by not having their clean. That’s fair enough but I refused to hold their placement on our schedule if they cancelled their cleans due to holidays. If they expected us to clean for them and remain on our schedule, they also needed to commit to us too. It works both ways. We have never advertised, only word of mouth. $60per hour. Min 4 hours per clean. We’ve never looked back since introducing the changes to our policy.

I've seen messages from our city saying not to put you residential dog poop in the trash, but to flush it instead. I have chosen to ignore those instructions, but apparently, some landfills care. ***Edit*** I just figured out why our landfill cares. All our residential trash gets dumped at a transfer station first, where actual people sort through it for metal large enough to identify. It is then loaded on larger trucks before being taken to the actual dump. So yeah, ours cares so people don't have to handle it.

That sounds like a good plan, because I certainly wouldn’t pay more than MAYBE $10 a week for this service. I just can’t justify this cost when I could pay a kid in the neighborhood like $5-$10 a week, lol! Although, I’m not hating on this business idea. People are busy and it takes time to keep your yard picked up. I could see my parents paying for this service. Anyone with money that values their time more than their money would be interested, I’m sure!

@hashtastic353719 күн бұрын
Both questions boil down to employees. You need the office to manage them properly, hiring, firing, managing accounts etc. The trucks are more for the field team to make sure they dont have any vehicle related excuses like their car broke down or whatever. It also presents a more professional and trustworthy view of the company which draws a higher price point

If you were to start a landscaping (basic mowing + wacking) along with this service, could you take say all your doo and your grass clippings to the local landfill? is it all considered landfill waste? or would you have to go to separate locations?
@UpFlip3 ай бұрын
That's a great question! Disposal rules vary by location, but many landfills accept both yard waste and animal waste, though some may require them to be separated. It’s worth checking with your local landfill to see if they have special guidelines or composting programs for organic materials.
