Short video featuring a performance by Sarah, CSA Survivor, at our launch event during the UpFront Survivors pop-up cultural space from 23rd to 26th March 2023 at The People’s Republic of Stokes Croft CIC in Bristol.
UpFront Survivors is a project that supports adult survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA) to step into cultural leadership through creating visible survivor-led community spaces and experiences. The project is a collaboration of survivor activism and frontline services, working towards effective, holistic, sustainable communities.
The project was launched with one of the first ever pop-up cultural spaces for the CSA survivor community, friends and allies from 23rd to 26th March 2023 at The People’s Republic of Stokes Croft CIC in Bristol, featuring a free programme of daily creative workshops and cultural events.
The videos in this playlist provide a snapshot of the launch event and open mic night, with thanks to our amazing performers.
UpFront Survivors is funded through the Home Office Support for Victims and Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse (SVSCSA) Fund 2022/25, and developed and delivered in partnership with SARSAS, The Green House and Coventry University.

About Viv Gordon Company (VGC)
Our work is a campaign to increase visibility, voice and community with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA). CSA remains a taboo subject and is rarely talked about outside therapeutic support settings and, because of this, survivors lack cultural and political representation resulting in CSA survivors being the largest marginalised group most people have never heard of.
There’s an estimated 11 million of us.
VGC’s work seeks to remove barriers to participation for CSA survivors and drive narrative change moving away from ideas of guilt, shame, isolation and cultural silencing towards celebrating survival, joining together and laying claim to cultural space to make noise about our experiences, rights and concerns.
Artistic Director, Viv Gordon has a strong track record as a theatre maker, arts/mental health campaigner & survivor-activist grounded in her lived experience of child sexual abuse.
