Hey EV, Dave, thanks for the video. I went to step further with a 1 terabyte solid-state drive (Samsung) and partitioned it into two drives, a 300 GIGs for music audio partition AND the other partition was left for Century mode and the dash cam. In the TESLA partition in the root directory, you simply have to make a directory called TeslaCam so the car can find out where to record. I have ALAC Music I like to play and because the music is lossless, you can really make your Sound system sound better. At least I think it does.

I wish it would work. No such luck. Just got a new Y and first they didn’t give us a stick. Call to tech and they came out and dumped one in the car without plugging it in. We plugged it in and the Format button was still greyed out. So yeah. And this was after buying an SSD, formatting it, setting up the folders, etc. Some nice features in the car, but when little things don’t work like this, it’s crazy frustrating especially when paying $$$$ for the car.

So I bought this and after a month or so, I grabbed the SSD to look at it and it was literally so hot, I dropped it immediately!!!!! Has anyone else had their SSD drive get so hot in their glove box??? It’s been during the winter months so it’s not the heat from external, but the SSD itself. I was genuinely concerned it was going to catch my papers (registration/insurance) on fire it was so hot…. I coulnd’t hold it for more than 3 seconds. Is mine faulty or do you guys have this issue too please??? Thanks for your thoughts.

I use a T7 for my video editing and it get warm when it’s being used but not hot. Do you know if it’s still working? Move it to your computer DVD check it there to see if you can still read and write it

You may be to format it, older Teslas needed a given format fat32 where new cars use anything

@@evdave528 I have a 2024 MX and did format the card in the car. Didn't recognize it. No big deal will use the one that came with the car.

​@xwpfan2 so I was running with a same issues till here is a few thing that I would check, first make sure used a cable that came with the box, don't used any of them because that was exactly an issues I was ran into till let me tried with it. OMG it does work. Also make sure renamed a SSD and lastly copied the entire folders from Original Thumb drive into a new drive. Hopefully that would help.

Further… The T7 formats on the MYLR (success it says) but when I switch to the Control menu, it says “unavailable”… any other ideas? (Seems to work fine on my MacBook Air.)

Try formatting it to fat32. Then reformat it in the car

Make sure USBC is fully inserted in drive and plugged fully in the car. Usbc’s have Been know to be difficult
