Sorry for the number of questions but in conclusion you are using a Samsung 980 pro SSD memory but the optimal thing would be a Samsung 970 evo plus?....and to upgrade the RAM of that laptop to 64GB, is this the best option: ( from your description) NEWER 64GB VERSION (2X32GB) AFTER RENAME: Kingston Fury Impact 64GB Kit (2x32GB)?

Why are you using the 980 Pro instead of the 970 Evo Plus? That motherboard doesn't support PCIe Gen 4, only Gen 3, so no point using the 980 Pro, surely?

Because in my country I can buy 980Pro2TB for +- same price as 970EvoPlus2TB. So why not buy better one ;-) And about question about speeds, ye with PCIe3 and 980Pro you can still reach max PCIe3 speeds not more. But it's good for future into next laptop, where can be PCIe 4/5.

@@JosefHrib Seems a waste of a fast drive, but ok. Is that the only one you have installed or are you using the second slot too? Personally I would order the laptop with a 1TB drive for the OS and apps, and then install a 2TB drive in the vacant slot for storage. That way I don't have to reinstall all the drivers etc on the main M.2 drive.

@@Chris-ru7cy I moved default 1TB drive into my external NVMe box. In my country was price 2TB version same for 2TB 980Pro as 2TB 970EvoPlus, so why buy older drive. Ofcourse if someone can buy 2TB 970EvoPlus for lower price than 2TB 980Pro (for example -30/40% price), so for this laptop is enough 970EvoPlus because Legion5Pro support only PCIe3.0 as max.

Mr.Josef, i would like to ask you something, your laptop came with original 1TB of SSD right? And for sure inside that default SSD already have pre-install Window 10. My question is, when you buy new 2TB of SSD, how do you transfer window 10 installation inside your new SSD before you removed your default SSD and replace it with your new 2TB SSD? No, I bought version Legion5Pro without OS. I bought win10 key after. And after I login via my Microsoft account. Because Microsoft remembered serial key allocate to my Microsoft account and this laptop, so when I upgraded SSD to new 2TB Samsung SSD, install fresh Win10 copy, and after I login into my Microsoft account, so Windows was automatically activated.

@@DinieSama If you had installed on original SSD in laptop Windows10, and is activated, and you are logged into Microsoft account. So after replace old SSD with new SSD, you can install fresh copy windows 10, in installation not write any serial number (continued without serial key), and after first launch fresh copy Windows10 only login with same Microsoft account, and after few seconds will be windows 10 automatically activated (Ofcourse you must be online in this step). This works me many years back into these days. Text from Microsoft website: Windows 10 Digital License When you upgraded from a previous version of Windows or receive a new computer preinstalled with Windows 10, what happened is the hardware (your PC) will get a digital entitlement, where a unique signature of the computer will be stored on Microsoft Activation Servers. The Windows 7 or Windows 8 genuine license you were previously running will be exchanged for a diagnostics key. Anytime you need to reinstall Windows 10 on that machine, just proceed to reinstall Windows 10. It will automatically reactivate. You will prompted to enter a product key a couple times through the installation, click I don't have a key and Do this later. There is no need to know or get a new key, but if you have issues with Digital Licensing or the Activation Troubleshooter, you can utilize an existing Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 product key you already own to reactivate if necessary. or use the reset function in Windows 10.

Yes official is max 32GB, but all laptops with Ryzen 4000 and 5000 series support as max real 64GB :-) 64GB works without any problem, and is it real maximum what laptops with these Ryzen CPU can hold.

On my few units Lenovo Legion 5 Pro were, the screws went loose normally. They were not glued. Only the first permit was always very difficult.

Yes, you can without any problem add second NVMe SSD PCIe 4.0 into second NVMe slot. About warranty, in my country (Czech Republic) is this without problem but I not know how it works in your country. In my country are bottom screws without any stickers etc. so I not lose warranty when I added new SSD and WiFi card.

I also have a legion 5 pro and planning to expand my storage, right now I have an existing 1TB SSD. I am planning to add another 2TB on the 2nd SSD slot, so my question is will it still be ok to add another 2TB of SSD because base on the legion 5 pro specification it can only caters up to 1TB of NVMe SSD on one slot and a 512 NVMe SSD on the 2nd one. Hi Rayn, In my Legion 5 Pro I tested NVMe disk 2TB Samsung 980 Pro, and this my ssd disk works in both slots. For example in RAM is situation same, official papers say, maximum RAM can be 32GB but this is not true, real maximum RAM is 64GB, not 32GB.

Zdravím, nic se neděje, prosimtě v biosu není žádná volba pro XMP. V biosu jde nastavovat přetaktování jen gpu core a gpu mem, ne ramky. Ale například ty SO-DIMM paměti od Kingston HyperX Impact mají funkci že se automaticky nastaví na max možnost což je ta udávaná 3200MHz CL20.

No, Legion 5 Pro / Non-Pro and all other laptops with Mobile Ryzen (to these days, Mobile Zen3 and lower), support still only PCIe 3.0 speed. I bought Samsung 980 Pro 2TB because in my country cost it same as Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB, this is why I bought Samsung 980 Pro product (and better future proof).

I already ordered 2TB 970 evo plus looking at your video. So i was thinking if i could just place the old (2280) 1TB ssd in the secondary (2242) slot, if that might work. What i mean is will ssd with (2280) configuration work in a (2242) slot ?.

hello, just ordered the Legion 5 pro intel 11800H model(need the TB ports) from Costco, in the Lenovo site it says both AMD and Intel legion 5 pro machines, supports up to 32 GB ram and 2 TB ssd. does the intel also can have 64 GB ram installed, and have 2 TB ssd on the second storage slot ? (my legion 5 pro comes with 16 gig ram and 512 GB storage) (i will get it in 2 weeks and the main purpose is for music producing not gaming ,and need as much ram and storage)

All Legion 5 Pro support up to 2x32GB RAM. About NVMe slot, myself I can say, that 2TB SSD will be works (per NVMe slot). If 4TB per slot, this I cannot say, because I not own 4TB NVMe SSD.

Out of box is not applied OC. You can set in application Lenovo Vantage power mode (more W for GPU, up to 140W on Performance Mode). OC can be via BIOS directly (GPU Core and Memory), or via some third party app as MSI Afterburner etc.

Samsung 980Pro 2TB version isn't many hot versus other NVMe SSD. I disabled power safe mode and my 980Pro2TB run all time in full performance mode, temperature +- 40/45/50/55 celsius (+- 40-45 in idle, +- 50-55 under load). Few weeks back, I changed my NVMe SSD from Samsung 980 Pro 2TB to Kingstone Fury Renegade 2TB, because Fury Renegade 2TB (chips from both sides) have little better speeds and I want try Phison controller. And this Fury Renegade 2TB is hotter, around 3-5 celsius hotter in idle and under load.

This is actually the Dual Rank memory! So just in case: HX432S20IBK2 = Dual Rank = Good HX432S20IB2K2 = Single Rank = Bad (however the difference is very small to the point where I doubt it makes a real difference) The 64 GB kit only comes in Dual Rank anyway. Could you test a few games maybe to see if dual rank vs single rank makes a difference?

The difference is so small that it is always worth comparing the price ratio (for example Kit 32GB SingleRank vs Kit 32GB DualRank). If the DualRank Kit was more expensive for more money, it would not pay off, but if the price was very similar, it is better to take a DualRank.

Difference between SingleRank RAM and DualRank RAM is really small. In the order of units of percent, not tens of percent. Biggest jump is in compare SingleChannel (for example 1x16GB) and DualChannel (2x8GB). This is bigger performance jump. And you always want run in DualChannel. Next jump in performance is, if your RAM is DualRank (2Rx8) and not RAM SingleRank (1Rx8). This is next jump in performance, but smaller.
