Will cost approx. ₹8,000 for new wheel assy, airbag module and contact coil (clock spring). Since there is electronics involved, its wise to consult service center/expert prior to buying parts.

Hi buddy. Thanks for tuning in ✌️ The Swift 2023 steering wheel has a different mounting spline. So it's not compatible with Alto and can't be directly swapped. However, if you really want it, then you can get it fitted. You'd have to replace the column shaft (from swift), install a contact coil (clock spring) and airbag module. There are few videos showing that this is achievable. You may try and approach a local garage to help you out with the modification. Hope this helps. Drive safe 😀👍

Hi buddy. Thanks for tuning in ✌ There are various options for other model 3-spoke steering wheels which can be fitted in Maruti 800. Since the mounting spline is common (30-teeth) in all of the Maruti's pre-Heartect models, you could swap any steering of your choice. However, as explained in the next video, the 800 stock steering hub has two protruding pins to operate the indicator auto-cut function. And so, the indicator auto-cut won't get operated with a flat hub steering from a later model. Hope this helps. Drive safe 😀👍

If you can spend more time on DIY , then yes. I did it myself but without contact coil. My approach was to take the remote circuit, connect it to multiple IR blaster ( available online) in series connection and fit it across the steering in adjacent so they can face the receiver as much as possible. Ofcourse there would be some "sweet spots". Then to accommodate buttons , I made small holes and used another remotes' rubber buttons and membrane for whatever buttons I needed. Yes it worked but to add better finishing , I tried leather wrap but it ended up horrendously and ugly. But yes you can give it try if you are a backyard engineer. I will soon try to post a blog on this on Instructables. And I not, you also have an option of I guess what they have with bluetooth remote sets

Hi Sehreen. Yes, removing an old car steering for first time is usually difficult. The trick is to just loosen the mounting nut in the center and leave it on, such that some gap is left. Now manually or using a mallet, hit the sides of steering from behind few times. Next, hold the wheel with both hands and shake/twist it sideways. Alternate between these do actions until the spline joint is freed up and only then remove the center nut completely and take off the steering. Let me know if this helps.

A steering with audio mounted controls from 2nd gen Swift can be installed in Alto (reference link kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqukimBrfrWJmc0). To start with, you'd need to have a compatible ICE system that supports control by wire. Needless to say, fitting an electronic steering wheel, besides being a complicated one that requires some major customizations, is also expensive. Along with the steering wheel, you'd have to buy an airbag hornpad and clock spring, too. There is a hack for using a regular hornpad (reference link shorturl.at/yGQ34). Either way, I would not vouch for the final fit and finish. If you ask me, please steer clear of such mod. Hope all this information helps you make an informed decision. Drive safe 😀👍

Yes, absolutely. That's a direct swap. Only the column cover trim has to be cut a little so as to accommodate the slightly larger hub of the Swift's steering wheel.

Hi Nbk. Thanks for tuning in✌ Ideally, any kind of modification should be reported. However, from insurance perspective, there are some that affect specification/performance and some that don't. Believe you would agree that power steering comes in the former. In practice, one should always be prudent picking-up any mod.

Steering outer diameter is same, just heavier. Think it'll need little more effort. However grip feel is great. Mine is 2009 LXi model with PS.

Hi sir, it's me again on your other video which is just as informative and useful. From a lot of days this thought of a new steering wheel for my Zen Estilo was tempting me. I would like you to know that the current steering wheel is not bad at all and it will be better if that stayed the same. Fortunately a few days ago, I saw an alto 800 (the new gen one ) which had the exact same steering design as found on my Zen Estilo. The only difference is that it is in black with silver trim around its horn pad which seems very good for me and I want to do a steering swap. Will it be possible?

Yes, I feel so. The part code for Estilo's air vent is 73630M75J00-P4Z. And the one with silver bezel is 73630M75J00-GCY. The codes are same, except the last 3 values, which usually stand for color.

Hi Dani. I am afraid that could be quite expensive and also practically impossible. Modern steering wheels with audio controls, also have the airbag module integrated with horn pad. Such electrical-enabled steering requires a clock spring to maintain connection while turning. So for Alto K10 (1st gen), you would need a new steering wheel along with its airbag module and clock spring and then test compatibility on the steering column. This is assuming you already have a compatible stereo system. Alternatively, you can explore aftermarket audio controls (Bluetooth based) which are much easier to install.

I would say, the new steering feels much more solid. So the K10 steering has got thumb contours, which looks unique. Either get that or go for the Ritz one.

I hope you mean the flat bottom type. It was top of my list, but after checking, I found that it cannot be installed. Unfortunately, it has a different spline pattern, so it will not fit on Alto steering column.

Specifically, I liked its design the most. Top criteria was that the horn pad should span entirely, to allow for one-handed driving. I don't want a steering which has blank area for infotainment controls, which would remain redundant forever. The one from Alto K10 was my second choice. Its got thumb contours to provide a little uniqueness.

Yes it works alright. Just need to ensure it when fixing new steering. There is a white sleeve on the column that takes care of indicator cutoff. It has two studs facing towards wheel, which have to align with the slots on the wheel hub.

By column cover I actually meant shroud. Its that grey color plastic trim. I took it out (there are 3 screws in underside) and used a sharp blade to cut the inside edge of the ring and increase its circumference so the new steering hub can fit inside.

Actually, I am not sure about it. I can confirm that 800's steering column spline (gear) has 30 teeth. So you can mount the new Swift steering wheel. But I noticed that 800's original steering has two studs (legs) on the hub, which are possibly responsible for indicator auto cut-off. The Swift steering wheel does not have any studs on the hub. If you change the steering, you might lose the indicator auto cut-off feature.
