Just put these in a Ms. Pacman 40th. I still suck but it's way quieter and feels better. Just got an ALP today - still in the box. May have to order some for it.

Hahaha! They definitely do, Rollie Leaf Switches are getting harder to find, get them while you can. My wife just jumped on the ALP for the first time in months tonight and said “I told you those (ALP) buttons sucked” 😂 Then this comment… the world works in mysterious ways. Thank you for watching Bob, enjoy your ALP and try to stay away from AtGames firmware updates until you hear from the community if it’s safe to update. They tend to break more than they fix lately.

I was lucky enough to buy two of these to Experiment with on a Arcade 1up Gen 1 Galaga Cab, and Last Year's Class of 81. Experiment was an absolute Success but they became discontinued 😩 Had they still been in rotation I would be recommending these Switches for Classic 80s gamers to use on their cabs and Pinball machines because the feel is absolutely Retro, Responsive, and an absolute great deal of fun. It really makes the games feel Perfect!

Got my leaf switches in the mail yesterday. Your video has been the most reassuring to know i can do this without messing the wires up. Just to confirm...disconnecting the wires from the stock buttons is as simple as pressing on the small tab to disconnect (should be no need for pliers or other tools for disconnecting)?
@JohnPauls8 ай бұрын
Awesome and thank you!!!! They’re crimped on pretty tight. You’ll need a set of needle nose pliers and possibly a small flat head screwdriver to pry it off the old buttons. Or they may just slide off, ATG quality control varies tremendously. Reach out should you have any questions. I’m here.
@JohnPauls8 ай бұрын
They’re traditional spade connectors but are usually crimped a bit tighter to prevent losing connection at a button that experiences a lot of vibration / shock.
@coreyalexander90598 ай бұрын
@JohnPauls Sounds good. I can see needle nose pliers being useful in the event I were to widen the connectors too much when getting them to fit on the leaf switch connectors...to ensure a tight fit...
@JohnPauls8 ай бұрын
@coreyalexander9059 Absolutely Corey, make sure you have solid connections and tug on them a bit to ensure they won’t fall off before finalizing the install. Pinball machines, even digital, experience a significant amount of vibration, even more so with upgraded haptics.

Great vid as always! Question for you! I picked up some Ultimarc "Gold leaf" switches with plans to put them in my ATL. They came with just the button (no "rollie" piece that connects). Do we need a rollie second piece for this type of button as well, or is just the button good with these?
@JohnPauls Жыл бұрын
Thank you Sir, I do not believe you need that as it’s built internal into the switch. You’ll enjoy those. Report back once installed. 🍻

@@JohnPauls Lag has improved but not perfect. Recently bought some new equip from Cleveland Soft for the virtual plunger which comes with some inputs also so hoping to "direct" wire the buttons to that board to hopefully improve the lag once and for all. The left flipper button doesn't always work or is jittery on my new atgames pinball machine. Before I replace the button all together I would like to attempt to just re seat it. How easy is it to pull off the wire from the button to re seat it? I am afraid I'm going to break it lol
@JohnPauls2 жыл бұрын
It’s crimped on pretty good to the spade on the flipper button. It’s removable just may require a pick and pliers. Easier to replace if you’re going into the system, get some Gold Leaf buttons.

Hey John Paul, when you widen the connector spades with a screwdriver, how easy would it be to mess up the connection? I want to replace my buttons but I'm nervous it will end up screwing the connection up
@JohnPauls Жыл бұрын
It would take some effort to screw things up, even then you’d be able to still splice things if need be. You won’t, take your time, it’s a simple install. Keep us posted Adam and thank you.

How do you remove the spade connector to begin with? Mine didn't want to just pull off so I kind of didn't force the issue
@JohnPauls2 жыл бұрын
Used a pick. They’re crimped on really tight. You can also splice before the spade to make your life easier. Just make sure they’re still secured after tugging on them.

It obviously can’t, nothing you could do about the ALP’s native lag. Thought that was obvious however those crap buttons they supply most definitely have mechanical lag - hence the comment. Thanks for watching.
