So after doing this exact build, I wanted to share what I learned so all you guys so you can make the best decision possible before getting a gun. So I bought the krytac alpha, and purchased a 247mm Prometheus barrel, and I also got a m115 spring installed in the gun. It's relatively easy to install the spring, and there are a couple youtube videos how to do it. once I had all the upgrades complete, I took it to the Chrono at my local field and I was shooting at 345 FPS, which I thought was really low and I was expecting more of a 370 FPS out of a m115 spring. After a lot of research, I found out that the Krytac Alpha has a smaller than normal Cylinder in order to keep the Alpha series shooting at lower FTP levels more acceptable for CQB courses. Even with a really powerful spring, I feel like it would be tough to match the FTP levels the Trident is dishing out. So I'm not sure what size spring or barrel length he added to get it shooting this good (barrel length and the size of your cylinder play a big part in your FPS). But I will say, mine is shooting decently accurate at 170 feet. I'm going to be changing out my cylinder soon to see if I can improve my FPS. I would say in my opinion, don't be a cheap a••. Just get the trident, it will have all the upgrades already there out of the box, and you are guaranteed a high FPS, and with all the parts you're going to be putting into this thing, you will probably spend close to the same amount of money. I'm not sure if you will have the same results I ended up with, but I thought I would share what I found out to help you guys out.

Hi Jonathan, I just finished watching your discussion with Walter from Airsoft GI. You were discussing how it was important to get new players into the sport and to convey how much fun it is. As a noob to airsoft, a lot of the technical jargon is taking a long time to sink in. Would it be possible to set up a series of videos aimed at new players (or wannabes) that explain everything airsoft; everything from rules to tactics to safety gear choice to easy mods etc. Have the videos progress in complexity. Cheers.

Awesome video as usual Jonathan. I have a question about radios. I have some walkie-talkies that have about a 28 mile range on them. Would this be okay to use for a small milsim type game, or would they not work? Do they even allow something that small at something like an AMS or MSW game? I've just seen so many people with these Baofeng radios and extended antennas.
@redteam65
@redteam65 8 жыл бұрын
wolfy yes they will work. the reason I run my baofeng is bc with a whip on it it will reach farther through the concrete buildings. if an ao is 10 miles long and wide that's massive. so it's not the long distance reach you need it's the walls that screw you

(commenting for the people in the future this do be a good gun) I just picked up my alpha CRB a little over a week ago. I put a much longer 6.03 Prometheus barrel, mock suppressor to keep er hidden and I grabbed an m110. Also switched it to a deans connector. Rifle is performing well past my expectations. And everything is working great. Besides those 2 internal components everything else remained stock. Using an 11.1v 1500mah 20c battery. Motor stays cool and is not double firing or locking up. Love the quality and performance.

Anyone upgrading, if you want a higher fps you will be sacrificing on speed due to the strenth of the spring increasing the pressure against the motor. But instead of replacing the barrel which i consider really unnecesary, you can upgrade the motor for about the same price to compensate for speed loss in your shot. His rifle shoots quite slower but with anything above a 30k motor increases the speed.

with a Trident spr ,completely stock, with a 6.01 madbull and m130 spring I chronograph at 398 fps on .25 BBS. now with that being said I most likely am losing a bit of air somewhere but I get every bit of 200 feet accurately without wind on .30 BBS shooting about 350 fps. out of the box these guns are solid, reliable, and accurate.
@jedimaster0667
@jedimaster0667 6 жыл бұрын
With .20's you are probably getting 410fps because the standard for fps Chrono is .2's. So you probably aren't losing that much air as you think to reach dead 400

Tech And Wreck for a gun, as would recommend an Ares Amoeba if you are looking for an m4 platform, or something by G&G, I would STRONGLY recommend the gryphon golem chest rig to hold your magazines for just $15, see if you can pick up some BDUs on sale or from goodwill because they are much cheaper from non-airsoft websites. Good goggles are a must, for starters I would recommend ones with full seal protection from a reputable brand as well as a metal half mesh mask, FAST helmet and shemagh

No need to change gears or piston to support the extra resistance? Stock motor has no problem pulling that heavier spring? Is this something you could do on something like an Echo 1 in the $150-$200 range?
@hakont.4960
@hakont.4960 8 жыл бұрын
He put an M120 in the gun? An M120 spring doesn't require that strong internals unless you're running it with a very high ROF. Even stock TM gears can hold up fairly well with an M120 if shimmed very precisely. If your AEG has steel gears and a durable piston, preferably nylon or polyacetal with one or more steel teeth, it should handle an M120 very well.

Isn't the m120 hitting harder than the m110? I upgraded to the prometheus barrel with maple leaf bucking. I'm now looking to upgrade the spring. I'm hitting 200' with slight over hop, but it's not consistent or the most accurate. My alpha crb was hitting 100-150' stock and consistently. I'm confused about which spring to run with without going over my field limits, or entering into dmr territory.

On a trident I have used G&G 120rd magazines and all 6 I own feed perfectly. Whether Brainexploder was referring to the Alpha I dont know but I had no problems. I also have some MAG 130rd magazines and whilst they fit quite loose (fixed using some tape) they also feed perfectly. The HiCap I found to be poor, it too is wobbly and just having to wind it made it unreliable.

Nice video! Are you using a 11.v battery? Mine currently will shoot 2 bbs with 1 pull and eventually lock up on semi-auto... But the response is better than the 7.4v (which works fine). Will a new spring and/or motor upgrade fix this problem? (I think it's overspin? but I'm still a noob to the hobby). Thanks.

hey, is better, a high cap or mid cap for cqb? and also what are speedsofters?
@JpmonstaGaming
@JpmonstaGaming 8 жыл бұрын
High caps are pretty good, I prefer mid caps (no winding and they dont sound like maracas when you move), but each to their own. Speed softers are airsoft players that usually play cqb (seen some outdoors) using speed (both equipment and their own physicality) to their advantage. Speed softers are typically (not always, inb4 butthurt) more competitive players and are more likely to be assholes.
@JammanTV
@JammanTV 8 жыл бұрын
High caps are irritating. You carry more rounds but the constant winding makes them more hassle than they are worth. The mid caps shoot all 120 rounds and also make you play a little smarter, you cant afford to sit on full auto constantly.

umbrella armory sells trident motors that they take out of there pre upgraded dsg guns for $30. I bought one for my g&g and it pulls back my 130 spring with ease. So if you can only afford to buy a $250 gun but it save a little money and budget shop. you'll end up with a better gun anyway.

If you want a good CQB gun that can hit players at 200ft pretty much right out of the box, get the VFC 416. All I did was put a Maple Leaf 75 degree bucking in there as I've been doing with most of my guns. I also use EF .32g bbs, and man even though the 416 only shoots 340-350 out of the box it can really send those .32s down range. #bestgunihaveeverbought

Hello from Texas. I got an Aped R5 m12 from an airsoft GI mystery box, and the box says that it is 11.1 lipo ready, online i saw that a majority of people were using a 9.6v in the gun. Should I continue using my 11.1v or should I go buy a 9.6?
