In this video I share my journey from Student grade to Professional grade watercolor paints. I discuss the differences between these two paint grades and review two specific paint brands. I even show you where you can buy these sets and the current prices (May 2020). #studentvsprograde #watercolor #paints
The two paint sets that I own and that are shown in this video are:
Winsor Newton Cotman Deluxe Sketcher Pocket Box (16 half pans) - amzn.to/2Wig5Wm
Mijello Mission Gold (24 colors, 7ml tubes) - amzn.to/2Le0alu
This Mission Gold paint set does not come with a palette. You need to buy that separately. Here is the palette shown in this video:
Mijello Airtight Plastic Palette - amzn.to/3ducz0y
Arches 100% Cotton Watercolor Paper - amzn.to/35Janj7
I accidentally quoted a price for a different Cotman set from Amazon. The Winsor Newton set that I quote in the video is this set: amzn.to/2SNFIvW
Note: The prices shown are at the time of recording. The prices seem to fluctuate greatly! Prices also vary from country to country. The bottom line: You can actually get a good artist grade (i.e. professional) set for a price comparable to some student grade sets. I would recommend buying the BEST paints you can afford.
Note: Some brands refer to their professional grade paints as "Artist" grade. These are the paints I have used in my studio. I have real experience with both of these sets.
