That's a damn fine strategy, because I struggled with Kemmler a lot, he has loads of enemies to fight early on and making Reikland your friend is nice touch.

Trade Settlement is probably the biggest gamechanger in WH3 vs WH2

In WH2 you can give/receive settlements with the Console Commands mod.. but that does require you to look up faction keys and it doesn't influence or require diplomacy. But it can be nice for swapping towns to finish provinces and such. Having it as a base mechanic sure is great, you won't hear me argue against that :D

@@Zapnl I think the main benefit of the feature in the current state is the previously impossible diplomatic feats achievable. In the past some relationships could not be repaired or improved. If someone had -100 aversion there wasn't much coming back from that. So the diplomacy was inflexible. Imrik is probably the biggest benefactor from the feature because whereas before he was always encircled by haters, now he can annex territories and sell them to shore up his borders because it massively improves the diplomatic relationship especially since you can normally get non-aggression and trade as part of the deal.

That was @Cheesus I think! Haha yeah I could have got it in 4 turn on stream too but I did a few things wrong. (should have pulled them into wars with military alliance OR used the settlement deals to buy them to join wars), either would have worked but it's harder to think and plan clearly in live shows.

If you use Mixu unlocker you can s tart with him. He is also unique in that he can level BOTH unique skill lines at level 10. Bloodline version can only chose one. -40% upkeep for Grave guard, -50 Upkeep for Black knights ect.

I did this myself and got little different result. Louen takes all of my gifted settlements from red duke by turn 4 when i was attacking Marienburg. But that was fine, cos i got Red duke o turn 5 and then I sold he's starting city to Louen and i got him as my vassal. Sold marienburg and fort to reikland and now i have defense alliance with them. Rly good campaing start i would say, thx for the tips :)

Strategy needs to be changed as currently Louen Leonceoeuereu interferes by immediately taking Artois from Mousillon, disabling the Gisouereaueus gift the next turn.

This guide was done for version 4.0.7. It's likely changed a bit as we are in v5.2.4 now. You should still be able to use the same basic idea to get the confed though.. If you are worried Louen will take Artois, maybe try waiting a turn and sell both Artois and Giseroux to Mousillon on the next turn. You should still get the confed, but just take 1-2 turns longer. I think it is very rare for Mousillon to die on turn 1-2 now, so you should have amore time.

This was my last campaign a little while ago, I sent Kemmler north after getting the duke to take out northern Bretonnia/Greenskins/Marienburg/Reikland/Greenskins in the northern Empire then sent him to take out Belakor and beat Wulfrik into submission as pointless going that way. Took out all Kislev and Moulder and that's as far as I got. Alarielle was my defensive ally from when i destroyed Grom till I finished the game who was quite happy to declare war on everyone with me but didn't do any fighting! The Duke went south and took out southern Brettonia/Grom/Dwarves/Woodelves (with supporting armies). Eventually got to Beastmen and Skaven. I unfortunately had endgame on and it was Settra so had to cross the water to deal with him! Only managed to confederate Vlad and I played much longer than usual, about 70 turns. Manfred refused to confederate even though he was wounded and had 1 region and 1 army left over by Kroq/Khalida and about to be obliterated by Settra. Belegar then declared war and I just lost interest by that many turns! The Duke can pretty much solo a lot of armies though so is much more useful then Kemmler!

Yeah I love the red duke. Kemmler is also kinda cool as he is a slightly tougher necro to give AOE regen and he has Krell to help kill single entities.

@@MercytheMad definitely, and being on a horse with Krell in his pocket makes capping in sieges quite easy with just the two of them with zombie summons. For me getting the duke, I made a b-line for Lyonese and gave that to him to get an alliance and made him declare war on Carcassonne. Carcassonne took Mousillon almost immediately as the duke occupied Lyonese. The Duke then wounded the fay enchantress but was down to a few units. I confederated him the next turn. Probably not 4 turns but under 10 for sure, never gave him any gifts! Not sure if losing the faction capital as AI increases likelihood to confederate?

@@jamesdrewry5229 Yeah he is pretty easy to confederate because he gets flogged by all his early game rivals, the trick s just to gift him more regions to keep him alive long enough to confederate. The gifts raise the relations to get the confed faster, but as you see in the video you get all the money back anyway so the gifts are free. You may not need the, but you may as well as it costs nothing.

Every time I gift Artois to the Duke it gets invaded the very next turn by Bretonnia. Anyone else this happening too?

Maybe a bit RNG. You could try waiting 1 more turn then gifting Artois and Giseroux at the some time. Might delay the confed by a turn or two though or Mousillon could get wiped - but they usually* survive a few turns.

ALTERNATIVE: Download the "Fudging vassals" mod. Vassalize the red duke in exchange for gisoreux. A message will pop up explaining that the faction you vassalized is one you can confederate with and offer to turn the vassalization into a confederation instead. Accept, enjoy your free red duke. And before you type angry at me, if you are willing to use this much cheese, I don´t see why you wouldn´t want to streamline the process with mods.

Hey, have you tried threating him into a confederation when it's -16? It worked for me once within a Dark Elf campaign, maybe you can save a turn

Nah I tend not to do that because of the RNG element, but in this case it would be pretty good as you can just auto-resolve all the battles up to turn 3 in 15-20 mins and just redo it if the threaten fails.

@@MercytheMad threatening into confederating can be incredibly useful, especially when when you can't control how much your target will grow. It's a pretty reliable way to confederate Teclis and Alith Anar as Tyrion for example, as you will ally them with no problem, drag them into a zillion wars and threaten. Your reliability drops a lot but who cares, as Tyrion you're invincible

You can get confederation at lower reputation but specifically getting to 150 gives you a big boost. Seems to be the same for all factions. (150 relations is not automatic confed. in all situations but it always gives a big boost)

What's the deal chance? Are you close like -10? Or miles off like -75? If it's close you can ty threaten. Having the red duke in wars that you are NOT in helps also. Can try pulling him into more wars and peacing out with some factions he is at war with.

Is it safe to go into Alliances if you want to confederate? Won't it get harder for them to accept confederation if you allied with them?

It might give you a slight malus in some cases but it's usually not really noticable. Main reason to take Military alliance is so you can drag them into wars to make them feel more threatened. The bonus to confed you can get this way can out-way any negative you get from the alliance usually. If there IS a penalty for alliances it seems like it is usually pretty small.
