Upgrade MikroTik to RouterOS 7

Hey Willie - hope you're doing well! A side note - always upgrade the routerboard firmware after upgrading routeros. I skimmed through this video and, i couldve missed it but i didn't see anything about upgrading the routerboard firmware after taking the normal routeros firmware upgrade. On mikrotik, you should always upgrade the routerboard firmware after upgrading the routeros firmware. Forgetting this step can lead to unexpected behavior.

We've been updating most of our Router Os to 7.7 / 7.8 as we can. Very few issues. Stable.

I like how Mikrotik is catching up in hardware, but the prices are still much lower. Stable products too. Just installed a pile of Ap's last weekend for a client! Their Wireless WIre kit is the best thing since sliced bread too !!

Just update to RouterOS 7 and the Map lite retained its config. Excellent!

You neglected to update the bootloader under /system/routerboard/upgrade. You'll need to reboot one more time and then you have fully updated the device. FYI I'm using 3 of these for access to certain vlans via capsman.

As of May 3, 7.9 is the most recent stable. Granted it doesn't mean you have to upgrade to it, but it does take care of many issues within SFP+ modules. Too bad we don't have more MikroTik videos from you. One I'd be interested in would be running a 5009 with ROS and a CRS switch on SwOS for VLANS

After this manipulations you should upgrade and Firmware ... ( System --> RouterBOARD - > Upgrade )

I really like what mikrotik offers, except for the lack of a cheaper wifi system with APs and fast roaming support.

I love Mirkro! Did you they have up there game. Did you know you can throw containers into mikro with version 7 and up? Like a Pie hole container. Probably cant do it on that device.

Does Capsman works correctly after 7.8 firmware update? Im still wondering if I want to go this route or build new system with multiple hap ax2.
