Upgrade Potentiometer In AC Motor Controller to have better control

Actually, I was doing some testing, and found if I used a 110k ohm resistor in parallel with the potentiometer that I took out of the motor controller, it would give me the 83k ohms of resistance that I need to get full use/rotation of the potentiometer, so I ordered some 110k ohm resistors and am going to give it a try. I know that I said I didn't want to do the resistor in parallel thing, but I cannot find the correct potentiometer at all - not even close, so I thought - why not give it a shot and see if it will work???. It will give me a chance to play around with the resistor idea from others to see if it will work since I can't find another option. I can't even find two 40k ohm potentiometers to use in series, so just maybe the resistor idea might work. The only way to know for sure is to try right?... 🤔
