The costs are definitely too high for most upgrades but targeting mods in countdown is by far the fastest way for filaments if you wanna grind those skill upgrades

Thanks for this video, came across it randomly but it has changed everything for my game. I've got 12k shd levels and I followed the instructions on here. Yesterday I deleted one character and started a new one. Once I completed NYC I had over 11k scavenger points to use. I made over 90 items proficient and upgraded my main weapon to expertise level 17. Total time spent, about 4.5 hours. This would have taken me months previously and gives me something to do this week until the update drops. As for exotic components, I have been collecting exotics for ages and just putting them in my stash, thought they might come in handy at some point. 4 characters, 4 exotics every week plus the random drops found when leveling up. So in total, maybe up to 10 a week with minimal effort. Liked and subscribed... don't let the JAMF's (devs) grind you down!!!

I found a somewhat helpful way to deal with exotic components. Take the exotic weapons and gear that you build through gathering in the world on a 3rd or 4th character (not in the stash), and farm Chatterboxes, Liberties, Dodge City Holsters, Ridgeway Chest, and the Nemesis . Obviously, the Chatterbox and Liberty is the easy way to go, but the others can pop up extra over time here and there. You can get lucky and farm chatterboxes until the Hyena boxes run out, but you can infinitely farm Liberty pistols. Acosta Go Bags show up a lot during the Chatterbox runs, too.

Do count down specific loot shotguns the exotics drop often I’ve picked up like five Scorpio’s. Save points for your count down currency buy exotic boxes. Projects like always. And don’t miss those global events. Rifles for specific loot are good to chose as well because there aren’t to many different variations.

Great video - thank you! I haven't really paid attention to this new "feature requirement" till recently and totally understand it now. I was just randomly upgrading and leveling up items which I thought the game made pretty intuitive, but prioritization is a major factor as well. I guess the guys with higher SHD level will greatly benefit from this method because of the scavenging points from the temporary 4th character. Does the expertise/level go across your main characters, or will I need to do each one separately? I have 2 mains. TIA

Do be honest You don’t need to upgrade as fast as u are the builds I use before this expertise are strong anyway you can breeze all missions and legendary this will just make the missions even easier

They either going have to upgrade how much materials you get from dismantling items or fix the expertise system where once you make items proficient, the items match your expertise rank automatically. Something like that you know.

Here's a question for you Kamikazevondoom. What is the issue going on with the EXPERTISE weapon leveling system? I've noticed that everytime I add an expertise point to a weapon the TOTAL VALUE DAMAGE number value increases but when and if I should log off and log back in, the same amount of added expertise points remains the same but the TOTAL DAMAGE VALUE decreases. If you yourself haven't noticed this as of yet, pay close attention to your next upgrade. If you have noticed this then please can you explain why it's happening.

Printer filament is easier to get than white resources. You have to think. How many mods do you actually keep in most of your runs? Most people dismantle most mods because you can only slot a few mods. How many Protection from Elites mods do you have in your inventory under 11? Do you keep any that are under 12? What about crit mods that drop under 12 DMG or 6 Chance?

Are these upgrades working for you? Only I've tested my Scorpio in the range that is at level 16 upgrade against a Scorpio that has zero upgrades. The Scorpio with no upgrades hits harder lol. I thought there was something amis because adds just were not dropping any quicker even with an extra 16 percent damage. Upgrades don't effect stats either its seems. 1.1 million armour as base on my build still 1.1 after 2 items are upgraded to level 16 armour. No way to know if these upgrades are working which is kinda dumb or am I missing something here.

One very minor clarification on the gear piece armor upgrades. The upgrade is multiplicative with the Keener's watch value. So if you have maxed out the watch at +10% armor, then a chest piece upgrade is 131,000*1.10*1.01 = 145,541 and so on. The basic point is absolutely correct though, weapons first the whatever gives you the most utility next (chest armor, drone damage, etc.)

Ultimately the armor upgrades won't be worthwhile until you get above expertise 10...i.e. a 10% upgrade per piece which should equal +10% total armor.

Don't look only to exotics, also normal Items/Weapons need Exotic Components to level up! My Famas 2010 is 13 and need 4 Exotic Components (I name EC) to 14. a Ceska Chest lvl 13 need 2 EC to 14, also Dilemma Set need 2 EC from 13 to 14. They really should change this for normal Items/Weapons and Brand Sets to still only Exotics need EC to level up at Expertise (like they need to reroll). If they don't change that, I am done

The skills upgrade is expensive but the skill upgrades are for all of your characters not just the one that upgraded it like weapons are. That should be factored in to the cost of the upgrade for skills vs weapons. For skills we pay more and get more. I am not sure if that is a mistake or intended. I am sure you already know this but it was not mentioned in the video. Thank you for all the great information you provide us.

@@basconrad719 Skill upgrades after becoming proficient are across your accounts level 40 characters and above. However, your weapons upgrades after becoming proficient are specific to that weapon. For example, if you have two chatterboxes and after becoming proficient you upgrade one to level 1 the second chatterbox would have to be upgraded in order to be at level 1 too. If you had a new chatterbox drop after becoming proficient it would be proficient with no upgrades. You would have to buy the upgrade 3 times to have your 3 chatterboxes at level 1. You could upgrade 1 chatterbox and share it with all characters on your account. This information is account wide for weapons and skill upgrades after becoming proficient.

@@higherintellect That would mean at least a 50% increase in base armour, so using kami's example of all red build 726k to 880k an all red glass cannon build would have around 1.1million armour, doesn't sound like an all risk dps build. Would it not be an option to reduce the cost of gear upgrade as you have to upgrade 6 items to get the same percentage uplift as upgrading 1 weapon to 20%, but you may upgrade all 3 of your weapons to get max dps on your build.

Just to be sure even if you purchased the shared accounts blueprint after leveling the expertise on the shield splinterer those upgrades wouldn’t transfer to another character if stashed before deleting this character and retrieved with the main character, right?

If I get proficient and then upgrade let's say a carbine 7 to 8% damage increase with my secondary character, then stash it and then delete that profile. You can earn 8 exotics easily, by solvin weekly shd projects in your 4 chars and do 30 levels of summit every week in your 4 chars, so you have 8 exos every week plus that ones that are dropping additionally. And for the skill upgrades, these work for all 4 chars, you only have to upgrade in one char, and effects all 4 chars.

I think upgrading expertise is all a gimmick to keep us busy grinding. I don’t notice any increase in any of my gear pieces. After the update I went from level 6 down to 0 playing naturally. The devs straight playing with our feelings at this point.

The percentage isn't a percentage of the total weapon damage. It's 1% All Weapon Damage. If you make an all blue/Yellow build with am upgraded weapon you'll see you'll have all the "All weapon damage" from the upgrades on the state screen.

I hit this brick wall last week..I'm at expertise lvl 24 and who knows when I'm a be able to get a weapon that high..I had about 50 exotic components to start with but I was upgrading stuff as I was lvling up now I'm out and it's going to take forever to get anything to lvl 24 smh..my advise is don't upgrade anything past lvl 10 until you get to lvl 20 then start with a weapon choose 1 and focus on that one then move on to use your components wisely .welcome to the real grind

Man thing is strip all the max stats in the library first. Then only recalibrate close to max items with the right talents and stats. Optimization really isn’t worth it opposed to just farming for a max roll on the same piece.

So would it not be better to focus level one unnamed weapon type like police M4? Then farm them for different talents. Flatline, Nsync, Ranger this way you upgrade one weapon however benefit on multiple builds. Yeah as named and exotics are very specific focused...

If I could go back, I'd break down the 100 exotics I traded in toward Proficiency for exotic components. I only have 28 exotic components atm. EDIT: I just realized the fastest way to get Exotics in the game would be the Countdown vendor's Exotic caches. Guess they want to force us to play Countdown :(

The problem with the game is that upgrading is such a grind, like if we had to do it for one weapon it wouldn't be so bad but with the amount of weapons, build options and part of the fun is trying different builds and weapons it ends up being a full time job upgrading.
