Welcome back,
I see a lot of #ClassicXL owners inquiring about a larger fuel tank and there seems to be a lot of options on the market for 12 gallons. It makes things sort of confusing and there is only so much room dimensionally available in the back while still leaving room for batteries and other accessories, so here we are. Anyway, short and sweet video for new and current owners of the #basstracker Classic XL who want to get a little more water time without worrying about range in the back of their mind. It's one of my more favorite mods which easily extends my range to about 105-110 miles total which makes for a great day to play, fish, or relax in the water.

I wish they made the pro team 170 as accessible as yours, mine came with a 18 gallon tank and it eats up all the space in the rear making it a pain to get to anything, I have thought about pulling that tank out and putting a smaller one in but I would have to pull the entire rear deck off to get it out, I really like your set up, look's nice and you can get to everything easily.

Are you referring to the Pro Team 175 TXW or the Pro 170? The 175 comes with the larger tank for sure, the 170 comes with an 11 gallon.

@@extremeboating7347 it's a 2006 Pro Team 170TX and it has a 40hp Bigfoot motor on it that I'm fixing to do your mod you showed to make it a 60hp, but I don't understand why they put such a big fuel cell in it, I never fill it up past half a tank and that lasts for several time's out on the water and I do use the motor a good bit, it's just really fuel efficient.

They really used to build them differently back in the day apparently. That's too bad too because I feel like the quality of them has declined over the past decade or so. Nevertheless, here we are. Haha. The newest Pro 170's use an 11 gallon fuel cell. Either Tracker is being cheap or they figured that loading down the rig with 7 gallons more fuel than what they use now was just overkill.

@@extremeboating7347 The way they built and rigged mine out just doesn't make sense to me, the motor they installed is a 40hp Bigfoot motor that I think was like 40 pounds heavier than a motor should weigh by there specs and I didn't figure that out until the first time I took it out and had filled the gas tank full, I put it in the water and the back of the boat was rt at the water line so after that I only fill up to half a tank, I got in touch with them about the motor being over weight and they said it wasn't enough to make a difference and I then told them about how low it was in the water and they said it was normal so I quit trying to get them to do something about it, it has been a great boat and the only thing I've had to replace is the bilge pump because water is always coming up over the back, I have upgraded the trolling motor and fish finder because it was rigged up with really cheap one's, this winter I'm going to pull the 2 stroke 50hp off the tracker party barge I just bought and put my 40hp Bigfoot on the pontoon and during the switch I'm going to do the mod to make it 60hp thank's to you and that should make both boat's happier and me too hopefully.

So you're going to switch your Tracker out to a 50 HP 2 stroke do I have that right? You will feel a ton more "oomph" out of that converted 60 HP Bigfoot at that point. You'll love it.

Looking at this for the 23' XL I have ordered. I had one of these on my Previous boat, however I cut a hole in the top and added a fuel gauge to it for the dash.

Great content. I am having trouble with fuel feeding to my engine after adding the tank. The direction of my bulb and other parts are correct, but the engine starves itself of fuel and the bulb flattens. Any suggestions?

You typically need to prime for a while AND I MEAN A WHILE on initial pump up. I would have that issue as well but I would just have to pump a lot to the point of fatigue and then after that I would not have a problem again.

I have bought the tank . How did you do your rewiring to batteries. Your help is grestly appreciated. Do you have a video of how you done the wiring.
@extremeboating7347
@extremeboating7347 2 жыл бұрын
There really is no rewiring needed to be done. You just have to remove them from their respective routing and then route them in the way you need to in order to reach each battery. The only one I had to run a longer ground to was the ground for the troller battery in the rear in which I just added a small 6" extension wire in between the terminal and the bare wire itself to make it longer so it could reach.

Did you notice a big difference with the added weight in the boat or did it not make much of a difference?
@extremeboating7347
@extremeboating7347 Жыл бұрын
I use a 60 HP conversion of the factory 50 that comes with the boat so I can't really say that the added weight made a difference, but regardless, that little amount of weight increase over the factory 6 gallon is really not going to do much of anything as far as performance degrade.

I run in a large reservoir that can be as large as 40+ miles one way. To date I haven't gone that far yet, but I like to make sure that I don't have to worry about fuel in the tank. I track my level religiously just to make sure I'm on the up and up regardless though. The last thing I want is to be stranded in the middle of an open channel with heavy currents on the reservoir. Things can change at the snap of a finger out here. It's an ease of mind and safety thing at the end of the day in my situation. Just to give you an idea of what is being done here, the Tracker Pro 170 is the same hull as ours and they come from the factory with a 11.4 gallon fuel cell, so it's not like myself and many others are doing anything outside of usual.

Your right. I burned a 6 gallon tank on the river yesterday and using the trolling motor to get back to the ramp down river was a JOBB. which is why I'm looking at a 12gallon tank. Better safe than sorry

You're still missing the point. Why would you want to limit your time out on the water if there is another solution to it? It's not a mod for everyone, that much I will say, but for the ones who want more out of their rig this is certainly a more than viable solution.

Have you priced a 175TXW as of last year or right now? $21995 (basically 22K) on their official site with a 60 HP BEFORE their taxes, prep and freight which is easily another $2785 making it 24,785 and that's before adding anything like a cover to it which easily adds another $600 to the final bill plus their wait time which seems like it's 20 weeks. I'm at 20K on mine and it's still the faster, better built rig by a considerable amount even with the livewell full and an extra angler. It is built exactly to my spec and is built with love and care. Sure it's narrower and shorter by about a foot smaller, but it's made exactly how I want it and does exactly what I need to do. If I bought the 175 I'd still be sinking in I don't know how much just to get it the way I want it so by the time it's all said and done I'd easily be into that rig at the very least 32K and that's no longer an economical buy. With saying that I'll be the first to say that the 175 was actually my boat of choice at the time, but this was way too good of a deal to pass up and I really just wanted to get out there. The point of this channel is to make the most of what you got no matter how big or small the rig and I feel like I've hit a relatively good economical budget build and adjusted price point with the build given today's market prices. Didn't mean to go off on a tangent, but yeah...
