Prime Catcher is going straight into my blinged out Miraidon deck that I will for sure keep built long after this format is over, and I'll be running one of the MANY other Ace Spec cards I've pulled that conveniently... never ended up being a damn Prime Catcher......
@InThirdPersonАй бұрын
I opened too many Temporal Forces packs before finally pulling a Prime Catcher. Still picked up the Charizard deck despite already having a Charizard deck and Prime Catcher because I could always use another Prime Catcher, Pidgeot line, and other great trainers for my other decks.

I love this deck. I picked it up the other day as a way to play competitive without spending a bunch of money. I think this deck will be great in the following format as well
@ThomstmiАй бұрын
The ‘Zard-Dusknoir is a savage deck. It has so many routes to victory that it feels cheap, even. I much prefer playing rogue decks, but if I lose 3 in a row and just want to win, it’s back to Charizard. Also at 48:00, always Arven for Candy. Then Pidgeot then double Stage 2 that turn. The Unfair Stamp is just a distraction at that point.
@maverickf1111127 күн бұрын
Ikr? I was tilting while watching that misplay, you ALWAYS go candy at this point for Pidgeot and you would still get your Zard on the same turn! I think Unfair Stamp does more bad than good coz a lot of times players feel forced to use it and overlook the actual best play they could have made that turn... Also another misplay at 52:00, he should've brought Pidgeot with the Ultra Ball since he had candy in hand... Evolve and then bring Dusclops through Pidgeot...

Just a heads up that the dusknoir variant of this deck just won both the junior and senior finals at LAIC this week. 2 other finishing in top 8 and top 4. The 2nd evo line is 100% viable and is the best variant of the deck at the moment
@InThirdPersonАй бұрын
I never said Dusknoir variant wasn’t viable or worse. I even acknowledge in the video that Charizard with Dusknoir is the way that most competitive players play it these days and it’s the way that has gotten the best tournament results in the current meta. However, my two sticking points with it are: 1. Personal preference. It’s not my preferred way to play Charizard, but that’s a me specific thing. And even despite my personal taste, I went out of my way to rerecord this video specifically to showcase the Dusknoir stuff. 2. And more importantly, for the majority of people buying this product, this is probably their first ever competitive deck. These people are still learning the game and they’re oftentimes looking to spend as little as possible to get to a competitive-enough level. These people aren’t looking to win worlds tomorrow. For those people, they already have a lot to learn, from the game as a whole, to how to pilot the Charizard deck, which in itself isn’t necessarily the most beginner-friendly deck. For this audience (who is also the audience most like to watch a video like this one), I think a list without Dusknoir is the best place to start. And then when they comfortable with the deck, add Dusknoir in. That’s why both builds are represented here.

What about Bloodmoon Ursaluna and Paldean Tauros for basic pokemon those 2 are pretty strong and Paldean Tauros is a fire pokemon. Cause I know Radiant Charizard and others are leaving in the next rotation would this be a good substitution cause i dont wanna buy singles that I'm gonna be able to use for another 3 months before I'm back to using the base deck again

@thebeanz7838Ай бұрын
Curious. With some cards being rotated out in March/April, how would you adjust the deck now to meet those requirements? Love your content, keep up the good work! P.S. You ever gonna make a discord?
@InThirdPersonАй бұрын
I’ve gotten this question now multiple times and I may need to make a video about it. Left to my own devices, I would do as I and everyone else with past experience through rotation have always done: play with the best cards regardless of rotation date and move on when they do rotate. I understand the desire to want to avoid buying cards that expire soon. But building a Charizard deck without them will only leave you with not only a considerably worse Charizard deck relative to other Charizard decks, but a worse deck relative to most competitive decks in the format. Those cards aren’t the core of the deck, but they serve key functions that otherwise don’t exist in our format. I may still give it a shot anyway for the sake of the exercise and it would probably generate a ton of views, but I guarantee that anything I cook up without the rotating cards would be considerably worse and I wouldn’t recommend that approach to anyone. Of course, if we were two weeks out from rotation, maybe don’t buy those cards. But at this moment we’re months away and the missing cards that rotate soon aren’t that expensive. Each person’s financial situation is different, but for me, that investment to play the deck at its best right now and for the next few months is worth it. I personally don’t want to lose game-after-game knowing that I’m losing because of an arbitrary restriction I’ve put on myself that others aren’t also abiding by. I actually went through that during my first rotation and regret it in hindsight. There is lots of time now to play with those rotating cards and we’ll have tons of post-rotation deck lists from Japan when they go through their rotation along with a new set of cards that I can switch over the moment rotation happens. But I’m not switching over a moment sooner and I don’t recommend others to switch over sooner, either.

League Cup coming up. Dragapult, Zard, or Terapagos? I’m most comfortable with Terapagos but there are some matchup issues I’m concerned about in my local.

Am I missing something? In the last match, you had only taken 4 prize cards, so Blood Moon still would have cost 1 and so they didn't have enough energy to attack?

For those debating on buying the deck I’m pretty sure prime catcher alone is 30 dollars USD so you’re basically buying prime catch with 59 free cards. I could be wrong so don’t quote me on this.

what should I use if I dont want to buy the cards that will rotate out? I thought Ursaluna instead of radiant zard, but no idea about the others...
@InThirdPersonАй бұрын
If you want to play Charizard ex at a competitive level between now and rotation without the rotating cards, there is no way around the fact that you will be at a considerable disadvantage against not just other Charizard decks, but much of the competitive field at large. The cards rotating out are key pieces towards getting your deck set up efficiently (Lumineon, Rotom, Forest Seal Stone), protecting your bench (Manaphy), and having a strong single prize attacker to skew the prize trade (Radiant Charizard). The only somewhat “clean” substitution you can make is Rabsca for Manaphy, which is better in that it blocks damage counters from attacks, but it’s a stage 1 Pokemon that’s harder to set up. Ursaluna isn’t an ideal substitute for Randiant Charizard, as it does slightly less damage while also being a 2-prize liability. The extra prize is a major detriment to pairing Ursaluna with Charizard. Some players have experimented with the Noctowl line as a replacement of sorts for Lumineon and Rotom, but those only work if Charizard is already in play and those two V Pokemon are key contributors to getting Charizard and Pidgeot rolling in the first place. At this point in time, there isn’t anything remotely close to replicating what those cards do for Charizard. Totally get where you’re coming from. It can feel bad to buy cards that won’t be usable in a couple of months. But there isn’t a viable or even somewhat budget alternative to these rotating cards. Are you okay with spending a few extra bucks on cards rotating soon but you get to play at an optimal level? Or are you willing to wait and are okay with being at a distinct competitive disadvantage for the next few months? That’s something you’ll have to answer for yourself.

Charizard has been a wildly popular and hyper competitive deck for over a year. It has been well-scouted by the community and the release of this League Battle Deck won’t cause a meaningful shift in the meta. Especially since Charizard isn’t currently the most popular or considered the best deck at the moment.
