Opened the video from recommendations thinking you'll use the potato to change your voice (like you put it in your mouth or something). Now I'm more than satisfied. You totally earned yourself a new subscriber. keep up the fantastic work. (and please never use swears in your videos)

The secret to making your voice sound like you're eating potatoes.... Is to actually eat a potato! Haha, thanks for the subscribe 😁

I find it helps to have a trigger phrase to get into the voice. Something you can easily say with that accent or speech pattern. For example: "Yah, okay" for a German accent.

Absolutely!! I used to have that for a character that had an Australian ish accent "Muh names Reginald Mahtin but yew can call me Reggie if yad loike"

Still not sure whether I'll ever get to play D&D, but this is gold as far as general voice acting and even just entertaining your kids. Thanks!

This was seriously a great tip video. I never thought of doing this. It should help me as a dm as to create note for npcs how they speak so they are more distinguished. Very much appreciated.

You're super welcome!! Yeah even just having the terminology to describe voices and mannerisms can make it easier for NPC notes

4:42 Something relating to grammar that I really like and somewhat subconsciously took from Kratos (2018 and Ragnarök) for my Half Orc Cleric was to not use contractions at all. I only realized that Kratos does this too after I had made the character, but it makes sense. It just lends a bit more gravitas to everything the character says. It can be challenging to do and almost every session I mess up at least once and use a contraction by accident and there are some examples where it is more difficult to stick to (like asking someone "why don't you do X"), but overall I feel it's still worth it and sets the character apart nicely without being too annoying.
