Upgrade Your Porsche 993 & 964 Suspension! In-Depth Breakdown

Took my Porsche 993 over to Butzigear shop in Milford, Connecticut for a complete suspension overhaul. With my RWB build nearing in about a week, I wanted to get everything dialed in. Dave takes us through an in-depth breakdown and answers many questions that many of us air cooled 911 owners have about these suspension upgrades. He walks us through a lot of the suspension options and why it's recommended and beneficial to add these upgrades to your Porsche 993 or 964.

Great video, well timed! I'm just wrapping up my full mechanical rebuild on my 993. Every single suspension bushing (elephant racing where possible), bbi rs uprights, kw clubsports, wavetrac diff, rebuilt transmission, and 3.8 conversion (cam reprofile, titanium valve springs, mahle p+c's), and what ever else needed addressing. Literally better than new. Should be going in for alignment tomorrow. Super excited!

I did monoball stuff on my ls swapped e36 before i sold it. I will NEVER have an e36 without em. In the right places it makes the car feel planted. Did a mix of some solid, some hella stiff delrin, and then monoball bushings.

@@imSchwaggy exactly! I think ppl over exaggerate monoball bushings. Even though it’s subjective but I’m always on board with improving/upgrading technology that is 30 years old lol. Especially if it’s still on the original rubber bushings from when the car was sold new smh

@@SpeedRacerJoe they definitely do exaggerate lol. Cuz it's not that bad at all. Maybe if you're in a gutted honda, but these German cars are not tin cans. Even e30s with poly and monoball bushings aren't that stiff lol. - and I'm not a person that likes HELLA rough cars lol. I've driven stance cars with like 20k+ springs. Those feel 100000x worse than stiffer bushings and proper dampers.

This is very cool! I need to do something like this for my 993 but it is really hard to know what exactly to do. I need to find a shop like this near me who can guide me, because even doing research I don't trust my knowledge. Anybody like this in NE Illinois or SE Wisconsin?

I totally understand how you feel. Finding shops like these that specialize in air cooled Porsches aren’t common. It’s almost like a niche. I wish I knew of any shops in those areas that I could suggest. A fellow RWB owner I know of is in Chicago. I’ll ask him if he has any recommendations
