Nice write up and review Mike you pointed out all of the characteristics that seperate the RS 993 from our domestic versions and yes those in the know would emulate this to the degree possible to obtain near mirror result. I have a stripped out 95 which I swapped the suspension components for RS , came upon a 95 factory Cup engine and trans (G50/30) installed with solid light flywheel , put in a matter cage and bolted up center lock Speedline NOS set can’t wait for the driving experience thanks for the prelude , Bert oh and looking for ward to coming by your new location local to DMV !

Many years ago, at a Potomac DE at SP, Mike signed me off for club racing circa early to mid 2000s. Mike riding in my 993 (1995) shotgun, my first time starting at the front of the red run group. To say I was nervous was an understatement. Still have the car.

Another tremendous video from the PCA! Thanks for a fun one as the 993 Carrera RS Clubsport is one of my favorite Porsches, so it was great to see such a detailed feature about it.

I allways prefered the 964 model over 993. Homologation for the 993 GT2 class were 1'000 pieces and finally 1'104 were made (227 clubsport). Very nice car and an awsome drive...

For your restoration, a factory CS does not have a blower motor, there is a plastic "bypass pipe", nether does it come with aluminium doors or motorsound airbox or tips. From the driving impressions, it was making all of the right from engine and box!

Chrome tips definitely a give away for non RS CS.

I thought it was homologation for the RSR (N/A), not the GT2 (TT). How could an N/A engined car homologate a Turbo class race car? Not that I'm an expert on the 1990s class rulebooks (although I am in some others) by any means, but I'm curious if anyone can expound on this. Like was it a 100 car minimum and it was the chassis only they were homologating? If so, when was the 993 TT engine homologated and how - with the GT2 CS? Then why not just homologate the chassis with that too? What was the FIA sactioning class-body that oversaw GT2 vs. Carrera Cup RSR racing? - The 993 C4 and C4S had the 4-channel ABS too - tuned slightly differently I'm sure.

Gt2 class. Not the Porsche gt2

Thanks for the comment! The 993 Carrera RSR ran in GT2 class, so that is what Mike is referring to. We double-checked with the FIA's database: historicdb.fia.com/car/porsche-911-carrera-rs-38-993

Awesome car. But one thing I always wonder: Why do people change the orange blinkers to clear ones... especially on these extremely valuable 964 and 993 models. They not only make the car look uglier and cheaper but they also make them look modified... because the original RS and GT2 had ORANGE blinkers. It's something that I just don't understand because they definitely do NOT improve the looks.
@PorscheClubofAmerica7 ай бұрын
We’ll check and get back to you whether clear markers were OE on this car. Pretty sure originally Japanese market…

When I was about 18 years old I went on vacation with a friend to his uncle. His uncle had this model. The man started the thing up, took my friends father for a ride, then took my friend for a ride only to put the car back in the garage he looked at me and said something like 'not everyone gets to ride a machine like this'. I hated Porsche owners after this for the rest of my life. But don't take it personally.

@GTE_Channel7 ай бұрын
@@SF_Native yeah, and I never met the man before, was the first time that day. Buying the car would have been a great comeback. 😂 The only positive point about the man was he drove the crap out of the car. Owning a car like this for the investment and to use as a garage queen should be considered a crime.

The 993 Carrera RS was a pure street car with an interior, the Clubsport was a street car without a full interior, meant more for track days or potentially club racing.
@DCBath17 күн бұрын
Weird that people choose clubsport. I have a comfort spec car, fab for the road. Perfect compromise - i find no need for a Clubsport car.
