Good lighting can make awesome videos even with a cheap camera. But poor video lighting can ruin a shot, even with an amazing camera and lenses. Whether it's for KZbin or professional shoots, the lighting makes all the difference! So, it is very important for beginner and advanced videographers to invest in proper lighting equipment.
In this video, we talk about a simple three-point lighting method you can use for that "professional" look and some affordable quality lighting gear that will get you started.

Good video , very specific and right to the point . I am a hobbyist. Your video has helped me as i had doubts about brightness of 60 w light . I am considering buying 2 pieces of colbor xl60r ehich are rgb lights and 1 peice of colbor xl 60x . To start eith 3 lights . I have a question if 60w lights are good enough to use with bigger modifiers and strip softboxes . What is a msximum size u recomend for strip box and round soft box . Thank you .

Hey man - thanks for the kind words and your question. So, I can't personally attest to every single softbox size, but I can tell you my experience with the ones I have used. As far as the maximum size softbox - I've used the 60D with a Godox 35-inch diameter parabolic softbox (this one - amzn.to/3SaDKoR ) and it works when I have it maxed out on brightness... although it won't be bright enough if you're using the softbox at a distance or needing to overcome sunlight. But, if you're using it for isolation lighting in a controlled environment, close to the subject (less than 4 feet) - it could work. Especially if you're willing to raise your ISO a little bit. However, normally, for using a softbox that big or bigger, I will usually use my more powerful lights. I normally use the 60D with a 22.8-inch Aputure Light Dome Mini - amzn.to/403VRyR - which works perfectly. If you have it at around 2 or 3 feet from your subject, it makes for great portrait lighting and is more than bright enough for lighting a subject with no other ambient light. It really depends on your lighting situation and the environment that you're shooting in. I think if you're going to be using the light with a parabolic softbox bigger than 35-inches, or need it to have enough brightness for outdoor use - then you might want to get a more powerful light. But, if you're using it to light a subject in a dark controlled environment, and are positioning the softbox closer to the subject, it might be fine. Also, depends on what other lights you may be using together with it since each light builds on the other to affect your exposure. I hope that helps!

@@KuriosCreative Hi , Thanks for your valuable feed back . Can we combine colbor cl60 with colbor cl 100 x . One is 60 watt and another is 100 watt , if they are from same company . Was wondering to use stronger one for key light and weaker for fill and back light . Will there be color temp difference if adjusted at same level .

Hey@@jinishupadhyay7414 - thanks for your question. I've never used Colbor lights personally, so I can't speak to that from experience. However, generally speaking, most manufacturers are consistent with their lights since they'd be using a similar manufacturing process to produce them. Also, they have a big incentive to make their lights match since they'd want their customers to be able to use them together easily. So, I'd guess that you're probably pretty safe mixing and matching lights between the same manufacturer. All of my main lights are by Aputure and I've never had problems mixing and matching the more powerful and less powerful lights (e.g. 60W & 200W). I think unless the manufacturer does really poor quality control, all of their lights should have a consistent light quality and tone. Hope that helps!
