I really like how you have especially in the area near the TV all of the labels facing out. Really adds a lot of color to the overall display. I wish I had the space to do that sort of thing.

Thanks :) I created these stands to front-face my games about three years ago because I didn't like the look of just row after row of "spines"... and now I can't print them fast enough for everybody who wants them! :D You might want to check out some of the pics in my campaign at www.syncoplay.com - there's quite a few slick displays that you can do just to display your favorites, doesn't have to be the whole shelf :)

"but over these last couple weeks... Weve expanded" That pan shot to the backside of your collection blew me away. I think what really gets me is theres zero space wasted and 90% is displayed. most people with this many games might display a few games, little do they know they could easily change that up. But yeah the floor to ceiling display is amazing and it looks like you can get to the back of your kallax quickly as well for quick plugging or unplugging!
@syncoplay4 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) Yeah - the Kallax is wired so that not only can I easily get behind it, but during game nights I unplug a single extension cord and the entire thing, consoles and all, can come out allowing full access to 1) everything behind it, and 2) for me to move it into a different part of the basement :)

Awesome Room. Great display. Lots of cool stuff. Nice touch with the Wizard movie Poster. Just recently got my 6 year son into that movie. He loves it now and from that we are going back in time console hunting. Just got an original Snes recently and started him on it and next is the Nes. The slippery slope of collecting old school consoles starts and its certainly bringing back all the great memories of all the great games I played and use to own. All the best with the channel. Look forward to more. 👍

I’m getting ready to start a revamped version of my game room. I’ve been seriously collecting for around 3 years and it’s pretty unorganized and cluttered at this point but I have enough cool items I’ve acquired to make it pretty decent. Looks awesome. Question, how hard is it to take out the games in the top tiers of your stands? Seems like the whole stand needs to be taken out to be able to get the games out.
@syncoplay4 жыл бұрын
Sorry I missed this comment when you first posted it, but I've been using the stands for about three years and it hasn't been an issue. The stands have a small lip on them that sticks out in front of the bottom cartridge - this allows you to easily slide the stand just far enough out to reach the top cart. So yes, you do need to partially remove the stand from the shelf, but not entirely :) Hope this helps!

I've been collecting for about 33 years - but it's hard to call myself a "collector" when I was five years old... more of a "I didn't like to sell or trade in my games, so I collected by default". I really started focusing on the collection about six years ago - that's when I went from 600-ish to my current count of 2400+ ;)

Hi there. Love the TV entertainment setup. You said you used an IKEA Kallax and you modified it. Do you by any chance have specs or notes as to how to modify it? Trying to setup a game room myself with Atari 2600 and Atari 5200. I love how you made space for your Atari system.
@syncoplay3 жыл бұрын
I do - in fact, I made an entire video about it :) Check out kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZ-bYqOvaaqJrMk for a demonstration of what I've done to modify my shelves.
@syncoplay3 жыл бұрын
Oh, haha... specifically the Kallax - I didn't address the Kallax in that video (just all the others). The only thing I did to modify that Kallax was that I left out one small piece of wood that is supposed to go in the very center to separate the "long cubby" into two smaller ones. By just leaving that part out, it's long enough to fit an entire Atari console

Why I don’t see a CRT TV for those retro consoles?
@syncoplay4 жыл бұрын
The CRT is in a different part of the basement - I use the LCD to save space (since it's a small room), along with a Retrotink 2x upscalar which ends up looking quite good :)
@mattd49193 жыл бұрын
Great room, but the TV seems lacking! Do you find you need an old tube TV to play some of those older games? The quality isn’t as good i find on the flat screen.
@syncoplay3 жыл бұрын
I use a RetroTink 2x upscalar - I once had a CRT in there, but the size and weight was just unwieldy, and honestly I'm not hardcore enough about the CRT-look, I think it looks pretty great even through the upscalar

Because it's super expensive? ;) I've always been really impressed by Neo Geo, in particular I LOVED going to the arcade and playing the Samurai Shodown games, but I certainly couldn't afford an AES when I was a kid... and now it just hasn't been a priority since I can get SO MANY Famicom games for the cost of a single Neo Geo cart :)
