Just painting the grille, bumper and roof rack satin black made this truck look a lot more desireable - and the steering angle mods, coupled with the oil shocks and worn-in tyres, transform it from something which is annoying to drive into something pleasurable - and all for under 120 dollars!

near doubled the OWL (one wheel lift) flex, might get a little more by cutting 1 or 1.5 turns off the coils, then flattening the new ends. it ditches some of the pre-load.

Phil YES, they do NOT have any "hobby people" on their staff at all! ask specifics, they don't comprehend and reply with "it fit this". frustrating as all hell trying to deal with them! was me proving the older WLtoys uses the older FlySky transmitter/receiver protocols a few years back, got nothing BUT dumb arguments from them.

These are cheap as hell if you can get them. Make the stock issues pretty acceptable. $30 shocks, new tires, some paint, and a Dremel are pretty cheap. I purchased a Defender back in early March. Still waiting for it to arrive....

Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 ESC. Servo on this is slightly smaller than standard. But you can make a standard size fit. Plenty of cheap decent ones about (the red 20/25kg ones everyone goes on about)

When I look at this video it reminds of the tons of mods and upgrades I did a while back on my Tamiya Unimog CC-01 chassis, stock CC-01 chassis wasn’t that great for climbing crawling etc, just a about good for trailing if a small bit of tree stick didn’t get stuck underneath it, but when I changed the esc for drag braking, ran it on 2s lipo along with high torque brushed motor upgrade, bushing to bearing upgrade and installed high torque waterproof steering servo and applied shock articulation mod plus many other small drilling and filling on the CC-01, it transformed the whole chassis. All the mods / upgrades come at a cost once added up but in the end I was really happy with the truck performance albeit comes at a cost. The question is - is it worth getting a cheaper truck and doing tons of mods upgrades to get it fit for purpose or do we go for something which is decent for trailing/climbing etc rather than hassle ourself through the upgrades and mods, I think it’s user preference perhaps

(lmao) shocks are about same size as the A285004's I like so much for 12 bucks a set of 4. toy grade hobby grade.. put a little smart hobby TIME into something always helps! she's geared a bit tall for crawling+climbing is kinda typical darnit, but there are high wound neutral brush timing 390 motors available for under 10 bucks would help, if it'll fit the gearbox. overall its LOTS better than as gotten, nice job with little upgrades.
