Folks, you have to order this light. I have a small 18x20 exposure unit that would burn CryoCoat and WBP in 45 seconds and 3:30, respectively. Though useful it limited my print sizes. Time savings wasn’t too much of a factor in my decision to buy. That said, what a difference in time and detail. 10-15 seconds for CryoCoat and 1 minute for good measure on the WBP. The detail, especially with some of my distressed, vintage work is ridiculous. I haven’t even built the new exposure unit yet; just held it 12-15 inches off the screen and glass. Highly recommend. Save some serious dough and DIY it.

Hey Cam, have a look at this; the countdown timer has a technical name of 'relay timer'. This model is fairly cheap and pretty straightforward. Inkbird idt-e2rh, can grab one off amazon for about $30 and is easy enough to program for a .00 - 999mins 'one-shot' (countdown then power off timer), that has a memory setting so you don't have to reprogram it every time you turn on your exposure unit.

Also the free exposure calculator really helped. You should do a video on how you wired it with a timer.

L.A.The.W , are you going to use the UV LED light or a different light for the exposure? If you are using a 500 watt halogen, 14 inches from the light source, you are looking at about 12 to 14 minutes. If you are using the UV LED at the same distance of 14 inches, you will probably expose for between 25 to 30 seconds. You will have to experiment with a couple of screens to get your exposure times just right.

Its cool seeing your excitement over the retrofit on your exposure unit. You should google Digital 110v Timer on/off circuit - or just wire it to your existing on/off switch... 555 timer circuits can be purchased on eBay, or you can get a raspberry pi and follow existing plans to make a timer relay to turn on/off the lamp. great vlog today Cam!

HELP!! I ordered and recieved the LED 50w light and it is taking even longer to expose my screens. I was looking to decrease my exposure times, I have a large custom made older table that used a metal halide bulb and it was taking 1:15 to burn screens using SAATI Textile PHU pre sensitized pink emulsion that is fast exposing. After changing the light to the LED, my exposure times are in excess of 1:30. Do I need to get the 100w LED light? Move the light closer to the glass (about 24" now). Thank you for your help!

Yo Cam, the timer your looking for is an Omron Timer. You've seen them on other vacuum assisted exposure units with the LED display. They're a little pricey but I found mine for my exposure unit on ebay and shipped from China for about $65. They're pretty sweet and can be dialed in for seconds, minutes, hrs or even fractions of a second if you like depending on which setting you choose. I run a vacuum assisted exposure unit with 8 florescent tubes. After some exposure calculating I've got mine dialed in for 120sec. Exposure starts and stops with the flick of one switch. Here's a link, same model..www.ebay.com/itm/OMRON-Timer-H5CX-A-N-H5CXAN-100-240VAC-Brand-New-In-Box-/292298138660?hash=item440e53a424 PS Thanks for the videos! You've been a great help for my start up.

I think most of the led black lights everyone has been using are around 390 Edit: probably want to make sure it's a blacklight and not just plain old led. Most of the correct ones will advertise that it can be used for burning screens.

Love your vlogs dude! Really informative, but the important issue with uv led's in the Nm frequency, what is yours? I think 395-405 Nm is good for emulsion, but im not sure, can you elaborate on this? Thanks buddy! Keep up the good work! Jon from Australia 😉

@@carlosmagana386 you wanna find out what nm the emulsion is rated for and start there. You could use chromalime that's made for LED exposure units. I have a ryonet rxp that I switched to LEDs strips and my burn time with a 160 mesh was 10 seconds.now I'm building the vacuum lid for it and got the gast pump off Ebay for $49.
