How is it your 24 hour day is so much longer than ours? You get so much done, looking after 3 properties some distance apart, fixing roads, turning trees into planks and firewood, fixing machinery, helping to fix other people's machinery, go out boating and fishing, explore, maintain a relationship with your family, and still have time to go away for a weeks holiday from time to time, and the only time I see you in a rush is when you speed up the camera footage.

Ecoflow is the Apple of power. They use their own proprietary connectors, they are way more expensive than building your own system, and they bundle everything together so if one component fails you have to replace everything. The tradeoff is they make everything simple.

When making concrete pads, or battery bunkers etc you should look at using plastic fibre reinforcement. One version is called emesh. It will span well so good for a vented fire box for your batteries. And the mesh comes in a bag so are very easy to transport.

Probably did not have any Re-Bar around and not really needed with a 6inch thick pad on clay for what is about 20kg weight!

@@robbristow not really needed for this slab, but for a fireblock yes. The cool things are that the plastic rebar is light, doesn't rust, and you just shake it in as you mix so easy for off grid and handy for earthquake and heavy rain areas like NZ.

Used to have a lot of batteries to charge. Roof of the charger box held up a whole lot of sand which would then cover the batteries when they’d burned through roof.

Great and informative video as always Marty. With regard to the battery box, any battery can go faulty and the fire risk is real, chances of putting them out once in thermal runaway is slim. I would suggest a battery box away from the house completely, if the worst ever happens it can burn itself out safely 👍

Solar is improving so much and getting really consumer friendly. I'd love to do something in Minnesota, but it would take me 15 years to break even on a battery system, and a grid tied system is pretty much a non starter with our utility company up here. Thanks for the video!

You probably already know this, but you have to smother lithium battery fires, water will make it worse. A good idea for a fire protection system for the lithium battery would be to place a bag(s) (plastic) of sand above the battery. So that that if there is a fire the plastic bag will melt, releasing the sand smother the fire.

Plus as a bonus, often underrated, the content Missus. . Thanks for sharing and all the best for a healthy and happy 2023! . A word to the advertising: Good to see some of the corporate support usually going to the louder, flashy- or T&A-content creators finding its way to more credible channels actually worth that support. I hope emphasizing the improvement it undoubtedly actually was isn't the only thing You agreed upon - I recently saw another of the credible ones using free ecoflow equipment particularly stating that he was actually demanding payment by the ecoflow people for them using his half a million very tech-affine followers as a target group .... and how he agreed on using their stuff on camera first and foremost because it basically was a more professional, more mobile version of what he already had built on a shoestring from stuff off junkyards and gumboot-bargains himself shortly before - no emphasizing, none of the usual "advertising" seen so annoyingly often by "influencers", just a plain showing what the ecoflow stuff can do when used heavily in comparison to his own build. Which was impressive, to say the least. Absolutely best advertising ecoflow could possibly have bought .... I am actually considering a compact mobile ecoflow system for RV-ing and yachting, I forwarded that other KZbinr's vid to more than one person being in need of serious power for machinery and creature comforts in off grid situations, (did forward Your washing-machine turbine series to various people too over the years, just saying) and now I am being even more drawn to ecoflow products/systems by Marty Angryram T. getting and using their stuff.

You should talk to Ecoflow and see if they can do a firmware update so that the system will auto dump to the hotwater tank when battery is full.

Nice and very useful system. I don't think many people realize that they can generate the majority of the power they need from solar right now. We may not be able to eliminate the need for grid power but we can reduce our use dramatically.

Iron phosphate cells are massively safer than cobalt oxide and others. They’re bombproof. We used to abuse the hell out of them in F1 KERS (>300C discharge rates) and they lasted superbly. Looks a great setup. You can also run Iron phosphates to 100% with much reduced ageing worries so you don’t need to kick in the hot water dump as low as 80%.

@@MartyT As a US citizen who lives on a decent chunk of acreage, who also watches your channel to learn different/new things(similar interests & conservative mindsets), I can tell you without reservation that forest cabin not being a home is bullshit!! You've put in to much work, planning, etc. for it not to be. That & I also remember your vid about going to town primarily for the kids/school. While I'm certain you enjoy all of those places(especially with THAT view at the beach house), I'm equally certain your heart probably lies easiest in the forest property! To the fridge to beore efficient you can put a lot of Bootle with water to don't work all the time the compressor. I made that and put the fridge in 6/7 Celsius grade and 16 the freezer. That down the consumption of the fridge

Nice Vid Marty, always good to have enough for life lil luxuries like a Microwave, toaster and kettle! I have 6.5kw grid feed and 2kw older panels and im about to expand this with grid as backup and 10kw of Gel batteries plus of course a new better suits Inverter so I can grid isolate if needed because my last from outages were 5 and 6 days respectively planning on 10kw solar and 15kw storage with diesel genset emergency backup. As it sits I use a few bucks plus connection fee per day as my solar covers daylight feed so its nice to see a good overview of a new system. Love your work :-)
