Thank you for your video and Just subscribed. Am quite new to palludarium (have some aquaria for a long time) : planning one of about 1200 (1400) * 600 * 1200 in autumn and therefore absorb all kind of information. Liking also very much the style of the building by "biotope gallery" which are Korean people who professional built them. Some of my favourite's of them are "jungle in the house" and "big jungle 90 cm paludarium" Best regards from the Netherlands.

I really enjoy watching your videos. I am going to a reptile expo in two months and I plan on buying a pair of dart frogs. I have been growing out some plants from clippings and trying to find a deal on a terrarium.

Awesome! Good luck at the expo! :)

woo new video :) out of all of your auratus which would you say are the most bold? the el cope/micro spots?
@NorthernFrogger2 жыл бұрын
Probably the El Cope by a small margin, and I would say there is some overlap with individual variation... The boldest Microspots might be bolder than the shiest El Cope, but overall I find the El Cope a bit bolder

amazing Video!🔥🔥 what about the silicone seal between the door gaps that you did for other tanks? Is it okay to not seal the door gaps?
@NorthernFrogger2 жыл бұрын
It's not totally required... To be honest I was in hurry with this one and just forgot to do it. The gaps are this tank weren't too bad though, and once I realized I forgot that step it would have taken another day waiting for silicone to dry before I could work on it so I decided to just proceed without that step for this time. It's mainly to help prevent flies escaping, but that's also less of a problem with the hydei flies which I feed these frogs. If it was a build intended for thumbnails which would get the smaller melanogaster flies, I probably would have taken to the extra day to silicone the seams. With a collection this size though there are always some fly escapees, so a couple more won't hurt too much...

Any update on the tank you did with just the exo terra substratum, reviews are hard to find. Thanks

Yes, planning a one year update soon. It's still doing great though!

i don't know if you will answer this question but, how many bumble bee dart frogs or any dart frogs you recommend i can put in a "thrive tropical reptile vertical crescent terrarium" you might want to search up this terrarium to see what i am working with right now.

Where can I get the glass for my terrarium is a 18x18x24
@NorthernFrogger2 жыл бұрын
I just called around to local glass shops till I found one that would do custom sizes.

Hi. Just set up my first tank and using the mesh lid due to it getting to warm with glass. My question is how often should my misting system mist and for how long. Humidity goes down to 60% when misting every 2 hours for 60 seconds. But the sufaces are pretty wet so I dont know if I should increase misting or is it fine.
@NorthernFrogger2 жыл бұрын
I would recommend letting the surfaces dry out a little between mistings. It's better if you can keep a high humidity without constant misting or having everything wet constantly. It can be tough to keep proper humidity with a screen top if you live in dry climate. Can you cover part of the top? How hot does it get with a covered top? Can you use a lower intensity light or move the tank to a cooler part of the house?
@duncanras86062 жыл бұрын
@@NorthernFrogger I live in Iceland so we have constant heat in the house with no cool spots. I have half of the screen covered with an exo terra light housing and the other half open. Closed top reaches temps above 80F/26C. I will change the globe to an LED and see what happens. How would you recommend setting up the misting system cycle. Thank you so much for your response.
@NorthernFrogger2 жыл бұрын
I would maybe try covering the top more tightly under the light... You can use plastic food wrap right on the screen and it will seal some humidity in while letting the light pass through. The food wrap is also good for experimenting with different amounts of coverage. My mister runs 3 times per day; just before the lights come on for 45 seconds, at noon for 20 seconds, and about an hour before lights out for another 30 seconds. I only have about an inch gap for ventilation on most of my tops though. You could also try running a small computer fan in the tank (cover it with mesh or something to prevent frogs from getting caught), which may allow you to cover more of the top without overheating.

Do you get tempered or just normal glass for your tops?
@NorthernFrogger2 жыл бұрын
Just normal glass
@ketaminewarrior2 жыл бұрын
@@NorthernFrogger cool because I just converted a long exo terra and my glass shop advised me to get it tempered. Honestly a good idea for larger tanks, but normal glass will probably do for the smaller ones. Cheers!

Interesting... The biggest piece I've done so far was for my big brom/variabilis tank, and it's a 3 foot span. I went with regular for that one as well, just did a 6mm thickness instead of the 3mm I usually get for the smaller tanks. Tempered scares me though because while it is stronger, when it does fail it fails catastrophically. I figure if they can build aquariums out of regular glass, it should be just fine for a vivarium top... 🤷♂️

Hi, I was wondering do you sell frogs by any chance? I've been looking to get some sexed leucomelas but they've been impossible to find. I'm located in ontario
@NorthernFrogger2 жыл бұрын
I do sell frogs, but it's pretty rare that I have sexed frogs available. It just so happens that I do have a newly proven pair of powder blue tinctorius for sale right now, and I can make a guess at a probable pair from a group of older microspot auratus, but normally most frogs sell long before they are old enough to sex. Leucs especially are very popular and sell out pretty quickly, I don't even have froglets available at the moment
@obama-bin-thanos74842 жыл бұрын
@@NorthernFrogger damn, I would get tinctorius if I didn't want a trio. I'm looking to place a deposit on a trio from a batch that understory enterprises has cooking. Would you say they are reputable?
@NorthernFrogger2 жыл бұрын
Oh for sure! I would consider Understory Enterprises one of the most reputable names in the hobby. They have dialed back their operations a lot in recent years, but they are OG's in the hobby and I would bet a good chunk of the dart frogs in Canada can still trace their lineages back to UE. A bunch of my frogs come directly from them and they are awesome to deal with
@obama-bin-thanos74842 жыл бұрын
@@NorthernFrogger Thanks! I'll definitely place the deposit with them then. One more question I hope you don't mind answering, in your opinion, would a trio of leucs be alright in a 29 gallon? Most people I've asked have said it will be fine but some disagree.
