Glad to see something from you. Been awfully quiet and was worried you had succumbed to the plague.

I like honesty of materials. A material should not look like another material. It's like a lie.

What happened to the Lathe? Did you give up on it? or is it you saw that you can't do it?

Did i miss a episode about the English wheel and why you mounted the anvils so you're pushing the metal towards the frame instead of 90 degrees? Not criticizing, just curious.

Interesting rambling. I had a professional foundryman recently tell me that he enjoys watching me do "loose" casting (i.e. not using huge match plates) because it is a dying art. I realize this isn't what you were really getting at with the downfall of society and all... but it does speak to the downfall of artisanship... I think... There is a beauty that comes with making something real. I think there is a beauty to being creative.

and speaking of getting angry at faux rustic furniture, we have a table and chair set with fake woodworm damage with clusters of holes the same shape and orientation on the same place on every single one of the chairs... to make matters worse the tabletop is chipboard with a wood veneer, and has slits cut into it (through the veneer) to make it look like planks... even though the grain on the veneer matches between each fakey plank.

13:32 Faux materials and features are the worst. They disregard the consumer's ability to recognize quality, while pointing out our prideful desires to show off expensive possessions. Granted, it's partly our fault for being unable to recognize genuine quality. This reminds me of the recent fad of printed carbon fiber patterns. Edit: Wow! It's funny that you mentioned the carbon fiber. I should probably finish the video before commenting.
