I could say that was planned but you know it would be a lie. So much of that install was down to luck.

Iain that vid was electrifying in more ways than one. Top tip don’t electrocute yourself, we’re rubber gloves when you are messing around with electricity, even if it’s 12v only.
@RedSeas2 жыл бұрын
Totally. It’s the current that kills you and that bank has some serious current. Thankfully we got away with it this time. 😃

Just love your excitement installing new batteries. The simple things are making your channel a pleasure to watch. It's the Irn Bru effect 😁🏴
@RedSeas2 жыл бұрын
Man! I miss Irn Bru! Think we need to find some one to smuggle some out to us. The excitement is 100% genuine. Simply being able to run the lights at night is a real treat. We can only afford to do so much to the boat as it stands.

I was waiting for a BIG arc when he was asking for comments of what they were doing wrong. Well here is my recommendation, when using tools around battery terminals or ANYTHING connected to said terminals be sure to wrap the handle of your tools in electrical tape. Ask me how I know haha.

Next option. you get an alternator that is overpowered to help put power into those batteries
@RedSeas2 жыл бұрын
We would kill for a beefy alternator. As it stands we have the original ones so we had had to isolate them from the house bank. Otherwise, the lithium would burn out the diodes in no time. Solar all they way for Indioko…for now

Once I was working on the battery pack under the turret floor on a army tank and I WELDED the crescent wrench from a positive to a piece of the hull, okay, now that wrench is actually getting very hot, can’t touch it anymore, so I grabbed a metal bar and pried it off the battery 😂

😮 wow ok so we didn’t quite do that 😂 the worst we had was a small spark on wiring up…that and the terrible whine that indioko made when we powered her down. Still haven’t worked out what that was 🤔

We would be lying if we said we knew it was all going to work out. Some creative boat yoga and a selection of choice words were applied to pull it off but the system has been a game changer for sure.

Do you have a solar charge controller for each solar panel? Do you have a schematic you worked from? How did you arrive at 600 amp hours?
@RedSeas2 жыл бұрын
We have been working on a write up of our installation for our patrons. In short, we worked out the system without a schematic and opted for a controller for each panel. But that isn’t always the best way to go.
