I was really wondering how Dimash would navigate this. Dimash is deeply embraced in Russia. Igor Krutoy is Russian. I knew he was peaceable and kind, but this might put him in a very awkward position. I appreciate his bravery and standing up to the violence and genocide in Ukraine. For him personally, this could have a lot of fallout.

Dimash composed the music and explained the lyrics he wanted to a Chinese poet he commissioned to write the lyrics in Mandarin. He presented the song at his D-Dynasty concert in China in 2018. Brilliant composition. He included it in his Masters Thesis in composition which he received in 2019. He is currently working on his PhD in Musicology. He has been described as a musical genius by many great composors he has worked with. Dimash always produces his own songs and these days he commissions new songs to be written as he directs. From my undersjtanding he has composed 20 songs not yet published and several other great composers have various new songs waiting to be produced and debuted. Sigh. Too bad we had Covid interfere with Dimash's release schedule of his new material. He is two years behind.

Oh forgot to mention that his concerts have always been high energy mix of all types of genres and has included dancers and live band and orchestra on stage. Sometime you should check out his Chinese concerts from 2018, his Bastau solo concert in Kazakhstan in 2017 and his D-Dynastary Moscow concert in 2018, then his more recent Arnau concert tour 2019/2020 interrupted until now and continued in 2022 in Dubai, Dusseldorf and soon this Saturday in Prague. His concerts are so different from his formal guest performances at special events. Guest performances and premieres are more a theatrical presentation as a one time performance of a major new work of art. Very different atmosphere and audiences.

Dimash wrote this song at the age of 23. It became one of the first examples of a musician as a composer, created as a graduate work of the University of the Arts.
