My uncle Pedro was Mexican, we was the smartest sweetest kindest man who had a great sense of humor and loved to joke. Your accent reminds me of him and I miss him. Very nice job you did, thank you for the video.

Damn, that console came out looking like some factory shit. I love watching a master of their craft do their thing. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

My uncle Juan was from Mexico City, he was a mechanic for a place in LA that built custom hot rods and did restorations. He was an artist when it came to the restoration projects he worked on. You are an upholstery artist, I rather enjoy watching your channel. I wish you had your business in Washington state because I need some upholstery work done on a 1984 Porsche 944.

I had to build a center console for a Plymouth mini van years ago to hold four radios and a controller for a light bar. It took me around four hours just to build the wood shell. I took the time to round certain corners to allow for a good appearance for the covering. Now I did not do the wrapping of the console. Instead I knew of a young lady that worked at a van customizing shop who was very talented to do the upholstery work for me. She did a perfect match for color and her work was perfect for my application. It took her about a week to get it finished working between her other interiors. Least to say I had individuals who wanted to purchase these consoles for their minivans since they were not readily available in the early nineties. Unfortunately neither one of us had the time to build and sell them. I added the necessary rails to mount the radios in the console and finished mounting the radios in it installing it into my van. I kick myself today for not bringing the console with me when I moved to Europe but space was at a premium when moving our belongings.

This center console was really well done. I especially like the black piping on the edge and the black thread up the center. It gives the console an amazing touch. Well done!

A router with a circle jig (which can be shop-made from 1/4” plywood scraps if you’re just starting out and don’t want to spend the $$$ for a commercial one) and a router table (which you can improvise by mounting the fixed base for your router upside down under a workbench if you don’t have a spare couple hundred bucks or so for a nice precision router lift) is invaluable to have. I’d get a router before I got a circular saw - jigsaw, aluminum angle bracket as a straight edge, and clamps first, router second, and circular saw third. Bandsaws and miter saws are nice to have, but not absolutely essential. DAP Weldwood Landau Top & Trim HHR Spray Grade - despite the name - can be applied with a cheap brush, so you don’t actually NEED an air compressor and spray gun, although they are definitely nice to have. For dust management, any canister vacuum cleaner or shop vac with the dust filter fitted can be made to work; and if you’re just starting out you can pick them up at thrift stores or on Craigslist, sometimes for free.

For table-mounted tools (router, tablesaw, bandsaw) get a push-pad & push-stick set with a rubberized surface. They’re not very expensive from the usual online sources; or you can make your own if you’ve got some wood scraps & a sheet of adhesive rubber (or rubber-faced tape like what is used to keep throw-rugs from moving around. Remember - you only get issued one pair of hands, and they have to last you your entire life.

This is similar to what I want to build for my truck...but I will be using bucket seats, so I want it to run between the seats...but the front part I want to do similar to this, but I will shape my speaker grilles different...I will also be using green & white vinyl to match the truck...excellent video...I learned a lot...🖖🏿😎👍🏿

Suggestion: use a pliers-type leather punch to make a rounded hole that you then cut into with the scissors. The rounded hole will distribute the stress when you pull the vinyl tight; and reduce the chance of the cut traveling over time (or as you are trying to get it tight).

Very helpful videos, I'm in the process of building a ported dual 15" fiberglass subwoofer in place of the rear seats of my 1987 IROC-Z, I have the mdf built up for the base and bracketing for the subwoofers themselves. I'll be pumping out approx 10,000 watts from the subwoofers, how many layers of 1.5 oz fiberglass mat and fiberglass cloth should I use to make sure it doesn't blow out when I turn my sound system up? Thanks
@callmesomething1425
@callmesomething1425 Жыл бұрын
At least 3 layers of woven fiberglass material or 4 layers of the random strand material. Fleece works very good for a base layer as it takes shape very well then fiberglass over the top of that with another layer behind it. Make sure to work out all the air bubbles between layers or it will delaminate.

If there’s anyone in Australia that knows or can recommend somewhere for supplies I would appreciate it so much. I’ve tried looking for some recommended glues with not much luck a couple of places online but postage cost more than the glue lol. Same with fabrics and foam etc. most I’ve seen have no vinyl in stock. Looking for ABS, blown pvc fibreglass materials also. Struggles 😢
