Hunting WILD Pheasants in Michigan! 2020 Season Recap

Hunting for wild pheasants in Michigan on public land in this modern day farming world takes a lot of boot time to come across birds, but when a rooster flushes and the gun goes off while a good dog makes a retrieve, damn is it rewarding! This video recaps the handful of times we made it out during the 2020 season to chase after these wily ditch parrots.

Love the videos. Can you tell me how much your dog Yeti weighs. I rescued a brittany from a shelter and he hunts great but he is bigger than most brittanys and weighs about 40-45 lbs. I have come to love the height and strength of my dog but I also love the breed. Whenever I get the chance to see a liver and white brittany I want to see if its close to my pup as well.

I’m from Michigan as well and not very many of my buds aren’t hip to small game mainly deer It be cool to link up with ya, I also have a lab and it’s his first year going out would love to get him on some birds

Was gonna ask if you hit those edges!!??🤣🤣 Is this private land open to public in the LP? Closer to Indiana? Looked awesome!! The sea of orange would be overwhelming here in pa chasing STOCKED birds. Looked heavenly!

It's all state owned public land, and in certain areas they have done a really good job at managing the wild population. in 2021 the state is going to begin releasing stocked birds on state game areas across the state for hunters to and shoot. The problem I have with it is everyone who pheasant hunts is being forced to pay a $25 stamp fee (Previously Free) so the stocked birds can be paid for - so even if you go hunt wilds and do not go to a release site you still have to pay the $25 to support the people who go to the release sites to shoot the bought and stocked birds that they're shooting, not you. That's where the issue lies with me, I wont be pheasant hunting here in 2021 and beyond.

We pay an extra 25 for a stamp and I have paid that because we don’t have a wild population at all. Maybe a bird or two will hold over in some areas but chances of that bird making it a full year to another season is IMO not happening. So, with the $25 tag and a decrease in stocked birds…I also won’t be hunting these birds in pa this year. I did not enjoy the game lands that were hammered by everyone. For most it becomes too much like a cat and mouse game with a stocking truck than hunting. No thank you!

How did You find PUBLIC LAND in Michigan, that didn’t have 5 dozen hunting parties on it please ???? This has Never been Our experience hunting in Michigan !

I look for areas large groups generally wouldn't hunt, small parcels on the outskirts. I've got a few spots that are usually a sure thing every time I hunt them 🤐
