Damn! Just watched this. That's the true definition of being continuous. There wasn't hardly a eddy in sight. It was wearing me out just watching it. Did the higher altitudes bother you any?

Wade, Are you crazy!??? Running that solo?? That limb you hit (@4:00) scared the ctap out of me - did you break it off? - was that it floating by? Why did you solo???
@WadeHarrison5 ай бұрын
There was a friend on the river side the entire way down walking with rope it was to high for him and I didn’t have much time in town so wanted to knock it out before I left he was watching the entire way so technically solo on the water but had safety at every major spot

Spiceh! LOL! Did ya have fun racing that chunk of log? Okay, here's how well I know that place... I can remember when they put that irrigation diversion dam in. Also remember when they put in the slalom coarse in Steam Boat in, and when the Steamboat Yacht Cub opened (which to me is recent history). My sis and I even kayaked one place where you're no longer allowed to kayak... Down Mt. Werner in the winter. When we got to the bottom ski patrol and a sheriff's deputy were waiting for us. There wasn't any law against it, but we got read the riot act, and our mom and dad got called. Yeh, we're the reason you can't kayak on Colorado ski slopes. No one came close to getting injured, and I think the county Mounty got even a bit more angry when Dad just chuckled and said, "Those girls." He already had a pretty low opinion of me because I used to beat his daughter every year in barrel racing at the area rodeos, and did so by a lot. It was as much my pony as it was me. That little horse could cut fly specs out of a box of pepper. That horse was born to run barrels, and every time I'd come out to the pasture she'd come running over and I'd saddle her up and we'd practice running barrels for a bit. Then I'd curry her down and spend a lot of time on it. I spoiled her rotten and she just loved it. I couldn't help but chuckle on several occasions when I went out and she was running barrels without me! Dang that horse loved that. But this is about kayaking, not rodeo and horses. If you're a good kayaker, you'll be a good barrel racer too, and visa versa. It both sports it's a lot more about core and leg strength than a lot of people realize. Most people who haven't been in a kayak, or are novices to the sport think it's all about strong arms. While there's no doubt that it really helps in a strong current like you see here, it's every bit as much about strong core and strong legs. For water like this, that's even more important than arm strength. If you don't have the core strength that water is going to toss you around like a rag doll in a washing machine. Even though you're quite fit, I think you may have experienced a bit of that. Fish Creek is a fun little ride... kinda non stop. Not a lot of places to eddy out. There's a few more creeks around there which are sporty like that, including one which is almost all foam. So much foam in fact that most of the time only your head is above it, but at the same time you're not sinking. It's just that there is so much air churned into it. Such a scream! A non-stop uvula rattling tonsil shattering scream. Crippled old ladies reminiscing are boring, so I'll shut up now.

On the water no it was just me but had couple buddies on the trail with a rope beside the river after they seen the level neither one wanted any of the run. Plus on a run like that moving that fast not much can do for each other in our boats anyway but on the bank with ropes yes.

Damn. I can't see the monitor through the tears. I know every rock and stick in this place. Nurse just came in and asked why I'm crying. She'll never understand. So many times my sister and I ran this, even when there was still a little snow on the banks. It's only a two and a half hour drive from the ranch, and around there, that's just a trip to the grocery store. I'm going to put this on a loop, and cry myself to sleep to it. I'll never be able to go back to my shining mountains. A damn drunk driver took that away from me. But I will at least be able to see it through videos like this. I see you were also on the Roaring fork. I'll be looking forward to watching that one too. I hope I don't have to live too much longer. I'm about horses, cattle, white water, and wilderness. This lousy chow living paralyzed and numb in a nursing home routine is not a life for me.
