Upper Gauley "Full Release"

How high do you guys think the water level would have to be on the Upper Gauley before Pillow Rock finally washes out? I've seen videos of the rapids of the UG at tons of different levels, and Pillow is the only one that seems to not lose any of its teeth no mater how high the water is...

What does Full Release even mean? When is that? Is it scheduled event?

Full release means the dam at the top of the river is fully open.

Yes,just keep your eyes and ears out about the rivers you wish to paddle and see when the prime moments are golden and do-able.

@@forestrot666 I have been on upper G over 50 times. This looks like 6000-8000 cfs, if not more. I was not aware they do scheduled releases like that.

@@SergeyVoynov it's not scheduled, it was 15-18k cfs because the lake was so high, they needed to get as much water out, as quickly as possible. This kind of thing can happen on any dam release river. If the lake gets too high from a ton of rain, the dam operators are forced to let a ton of water out to keep it from overflowing.
