I don't understand the collective NY denial, they know their radio stations and influencers never respected West Coast or Southern hip hop in the early/mid 90s.
@lrodnyc90472 жыл бұрын
But it wasn't the fans tho. It was more of the old school ppl in the industry and in radio. The streets really loved the West Coast music & Southern too. The young generation at the time coming up was loving everything and anything hot no matter where it was from.

@lrodnyc90472 жыл бұрын
@@itsascaryworld9788 I believe you fam. There was definitely a few heads who were haters too. For some, it took a little time to accept the different slang, style & music from the West Coast, South & Midwest. Just like everything else, some resist change.
@darrellalston21032 жыл бұрын
Early on West Coast rappers and Southern artists didn't have bars as far as the East was concerned. Quiet as kept, the most respected MC in the early stages of West Coast rap was King T. Then Souls of Mischief had heads like ok. The South was country until Scarface started being SCARFACE and then Luda and Andre 3000. Most of the lyrics outside of the ones i named were basic.

Dre did well to keep him far away from DR and all the negative and dark aura surrounding the label. He was threatened by Suge henchmen in his home late night because in a interview to "The Source" he complained that he has never been for his past contributions on many hits of the label. He was also threatened by Suge himself because he tried to prevent Snoop from signing up a contract with many unfavorable terms that woud screw him up and keep him hand-fed by Suge for years. This guy was lucky to be kept away from all the drama and violence going on at Death Row back in the days.
