Sir I read in news ..in 1989 & 1990 batch there are hardly any engineering department officer in the level 15 for the appointment of chairman post while cse officers like irts irps iras are many ? Does irts irps iras has fast promotions rate than engineering department ???

Upto SAG it can differ as promotions are within the service SAG and above posts are mixed posts.

As of now there is only one way of entry in railways as officer i.e. via UPSC CSE Once you appear in that exam , your preference for services will change based on your rank Or you can enter by RRB JE and wait for 3 years to appear for departmental exam by which will be placed in junior scale officer at level 8 gazetted
