Changing my review of this amp. It has blown multiple fuses and no longer emits sound. “Built to last under three years” might be a better slogan.

Hi I've just bought a Dialogue 5 power amp and think I've ended up with a mismatch in my system as it's just far too bright sounding was using a Dared 2A3C single ended amp previously which sounded absolutely beautiful but ultimately I needed more power so thought this might fit the bill,wanted something with the same sonic signature but just more power,so now wondering if by changing valves I can Taylor to suit initially thinking of getting a set of KT 66's but was wondering if changing drivers tubes would work and be less costly. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Update maybe this amp did just a un unexpectably long time to run in? Or was it just particularly sensitive to matching with suitable speaker and experimenting with different tubes? All I know is now I love it,certainly not a warm sound hyper detailed but the top end in current configuration is not harsh like it was when it 1st came out the box,so worth sticking will it,as it's definitely a quality product.

I don't like comments like this one because I don't know exactly what the writer means. Is it PrimaLuna that is snake oil relative to other tube amps, is it all tube amps that are snake oil relative to solid state, or is it that all high end amps are snake oil relative to Onkyos and Yamahas? It's so much easier if folks just come out and say precisely what they mean. For example: "The purported advantages of tube amplifiers over high quality solid state units is entirely an illusion, fostered by audio store snake oil salesmen who profit for the more expensive tube units and the continual trickle of replacement tube sales." I don't necessarily agree with this statement, but it is a lot clearer than the comment.

@@HPaulHonsinger my primaluna beats my other 40% higher priced solid state Marrantz .. The first time I've heard tube amp, was like being born again, people talking about snake oil never heard one, or lacks any meaningful form of insight all together. A Prologue 4 is not even priced among serious solid state amps, it's rather mid-range priced.. Yet it blows anything remotely equally priced out the water.
