I'm a piano player and have been using an old stand for different things in my limited work area,but now, I'm definitely going to stick it to the ceiling

I've watched a million 'improve your shop' videos, and this one stands out as actually looking really useful. I have parts of a bed frame in the garage and will be making one like this soon.

Yeah it’s odd to see so few people using this space. If you do this, post online somewhere, I’m interested to see how you trick it out.

It does look useful, and I've found a related setup posted by krtwood on his youtube channel. He calls it a tool chandelier.

Love it. Let the need drive the design. And using a piano stand as a test for a few years? Genius.

Diggin the overhead dust hose idea! It’s helped inspire me to finish a half baked idea bugging me the past couple years.

Thank you for putting in the shot where your son made the ping pong ball into the vacuum. It would’ve really bothered me if I didn’t see him make the shot.

Thanks for sharing the thoughts behind the features. I can watch that all day, every day vs how-to build videos. And it’s not pretty. Function first!

I still don't get why your channel hasn't taken off yet, I learn something new each time, awesome stuff man, thank you

It's gaining momentum - I hoped for 100 subs by end of 2019, and 200 by end of 2020...so I'm living the dream! But seriously, I'm at a bit of a loss where to share it, how to get the word out, etc. There's a shop hacks FB group that's very fitting, but FB puts KZbin videos at the bottom of their prioritization list. The big Reddit groups are more about DIY and sensitive to self-promotion (which is probably a good thing). Thanks for the note!

@@KeithsTestGarage I feel that yt has become click bait + quantity over quality, and even had to turn off notifications on some great channels that started doing that, because it was their only income revenue, I understand the why, but it still saddens me

This is a really great implementation! I've wondered about doing this above my work table for a long time. Thanks for some great ideas.

Steel is still doable without welding, bolts work just fine. The challange is getitng the bolt holes to line up. Ilke your design. You have some nice welders too.

Why Tig welding I hear a lot of people say they “should” learn to us it over MiG welding but I have never really hear why? Thanks for the video.
@KeithsTestGarage3 жыл бұрын
Good question. I don't think it's better than MIG, just different - as a newbie I'll give an answer, and hope somebody with more expertise can give a more expertly answer: When I MIG, I wheel the welder outside due to sparks and flying globs. Most TIG projects I can do inside w/ the exhaust fan running. More convenient. Also, TIG is nice for small parts and filler-less tacking. But TIG is slow.
@ws66193 жыл бұрын
@@KeithsTestGarage This exactly. Each has a use case -- depends on the application, type of metal you'll be using - cost is a factor as well. If you're just trying to learn welding in general I wouldn't start with buying one or the other, go take a course at the community college or makerspace and gain experience that way.

What’s your take on such a structure in a 8 feet garage for a 6’2” person? It seems that I’d bump my head quite often on random stuff... opinion?
@KeithsTestGarage3 жыл бұрын
forgot to add that to the video - I have it inset 6" into the island so it's kind of in front of me. I'm 5' 11" so that's about a 3" difference. I think I'd still do it if I had to mount it 6" lower...I'd mount the lights on shorter stems (directly to the clamps) and be fine.

Question. If you hang a banana from it, is it now a banana stand?
@KeithsTestGarage3 жыл бұрын
I'll let you know in a few days. Maybe others know this off the top of their heads and can chime in.
@FearsomeWarrior3 жыл бұрын
@@KeithsTestGarage A quick google search says a full banana stem fresh from a tree is 66-100 lbs. I don’t see structure being a problem. For daily use I think that’ll cover it.

@@thiemofischer2230 ahhh, it's a free song on KZbin's audio library. I used it in another video a year or two ago w/ a slow motion bit w/ ping-pong ball at the end, therefore I brought it back now.
