Bruce, I love your videos. They’re huge inspiration for teaching science! One request I would much prefer no music during your demonstrations and your dialogue thank you!

Noted! It's funny that I had suggestions for adding a bit of background music. I see you point though, I did a lot of talking in this one and can see how that can be a bit distracting. I will try and cut some of it out in the future or at least at a lower volume.

@@YeanyScience thanks, I like your music choices for intro and outro! I just prefer no background music during your explanations and teaching. I met you about 20 years ago and have used your awesome book to guide my 8th grade physical science teaching at Fleetwood Middle School. I’ll email you with some further questions and possible ideas to collaborate on. (I have a couple other KZbin channels. Vintage Wood Workshop and BrainStem)

LOL, I first tried going larger with a 5 gallon bucket got that around once using two hands , it weighs about 40 pounds (what was I thinking, it almost knocked me over). This bucket is 2 1/2 gallons and I figure about 20 pounds, for me that will be large enough..

@bruce you'd like Veratasium's video on how trees get water all the way up to their tops, and Action Lab's experiment with tubes of liquid and a parking structure to see what max height a vacuum can hold.
@YeanyScience
@YeanyScience 12 сағат бұрын
I haven't seen either of these but will go back and watch, thanks for the suggestion. I've had the water column investigation on my list for a long time. I made a large tube up that would be at the top for viewing the reduced pressure boiling. Also, I've heard rumors about it so I'd also like to experiment with testing out whether degassed water can be taken to higher heights.

What appears to be empty at first glance in Torricelli's experiment is, in fact, empty, but it is difficult to comprehend this due to our everyday intuition about vacuum, which often leads us to think that there must be something else in that space.

Pretty sure it’s still Mr. Yeany himself making and posting all the videos? Especially considering he is still doing new research for his demos as shown by the corrected parts here.

What's the maximum height for the column of water? 😊 Great videos, such an inspiration to students bring physics alive. Well done.

a water column matches air pressure at around 33 feet, after that it forms a vacuum above that if the tube were longer. Could I get it to work at that height? sounds like a challenge.
@Chimpster21
@Chimpster21 8 сағат бұрын
@YeanyScience yes, 10.3m. I was hoping you would accept the challenge. 😄 And then create a giant barometer. Rather than mm of mercury meters of water. 😄

I have two cereal bowls When doing the dishes and if one Girls in the other one with water between them. It's a a hard time of getting those apart Because of the vacuum.
