I haven't seen one. Morys ar y Clwt in West Wales used to do it about 20 years ago but that was before the age of video cameras up everyones sleeve. The original is in Bacon and also in more detail in Dave Jones' `Roots of Welsh Border Morris'. It's basically - Dance round / Sticking / Dance in position / Allemande rt shoulders / sticks/dance in position/Allemande left/sticks/dance in position/3 top/sticks/DIP/sides hat/sticks/DIP/dance round and all in. Sticking is 1 clash/bar tips & butts.

It was MK who suggested the Newfoundland fiddle tune that the Cotswoldy version uses. I don't know why as its nothing like what the original team used - Keel row, Girl I left behind me & Yankee doodle.

Both tips and butts you strike from rt to left. You can see it's much more of a Border dance. i would guess from all the dance in position that it might well have originally been processional as you could move the set forwards at those times. Allemande is 4 bars doing a right shoulder back to back & 4 bars dance on the spot. Apparently the original side preffered to do the dance with an 8 man set but only raised 6 to demonstrate it to MK.

this of course being the Cottswold-ified version most teams seem to dance and not the actual dance as it was first collected by Maud Karpeles.

Interesting! Is there a video anywhere of the other one?
