Uptown Express on Star Search, November 1983

Break-dancing lockers (what is the specific style?) Uptown Express from New York or South Carolina, this is their third and last appearance on the show. They lose to a brother/sister act, Mark and Laura Sellers, who go on to win the dance category for the season.

Exactly! These guys were my favorite group while I was in high school. And PLEASE someone find and post the other 2 ....My favorite was the 2nd one, to Electric Kingdom....I loved it when the middle guy ended with that "ladder climb" and the last guy did a great moonwalk and the cigarette tricks.

yo man these dudes were tight as hell I remember them this they jammed out to planet rock the second time they rocked out with electric kingdom and the 3rd song was planet patrols cheap thrills wow this is great 80s bboying..the bro sister team they finally lost too was weak it was straight out of 21 jump street..doesnt matter uptown express ended up touring with 1984s FRESH FEST TOUR by swatch watch co.it was fkn AWESOME

The brother/sister team were exploiting the Michael Jackson look and style, more mainstream at the time - they won the first season in dance. The brother was a much stronger dancer than the sister. Uptown E was ahead of its time...innovative and talented dancers. I'm glad I found my VHS!

wow thanks for posting this I have it on vhs somewhere.. but cant find it uptown express were jamming the 3 times they were on..and the brother sister team they lost to sucked.but didnt matter these guys went on to tour with the 1984 FRESH FEST TOUR with amazing rappers and breakdancers. the three songs they danced to on star search was electric kingdom, planet rock and cheap thrills so again thanx babyboomer Gen for posting this....MEMORIES MAN

At the time, the Roxy was like no other club...Besides the best roller skating it was seminal in developing hip hop...All the Bboys and Bgirls went there!!!

You can tell these bros. watched some L.A. poppers I saw their chain reaction routine. They weren't all wiggly n wormy like most Electric Boggie boys back then they were cleaner and they popped. I remember these star search performances I'm glad the Poppers came out n got down n showed up.

I knew those guys in Charleston! Willie Cobb is the one on the left. He went on to do a Michael Jackson music video and some acting. I would love to know where he is today.

Thanks for sharing I never forgot The Uptown Express. I remembered another challenger I forgot who they were, but they defeated The Uptown Express, and I was upset. I kept saying they were robbed. Anyone remembered who they were?
