While I’m always in favor of full songs because the more Tom the better, I like that when Tom does do short ones lately he often gets them over the 1 minute mark for shorts so he can get money from it. Not being sarcastic, I genuinely think Tom deserves all the money and more because his songs are not only phenomenal musically, but also have both clever and funny lyrics. And then then once you add in the production/visuals (I can’t even imagine how many different takes are required, sometimes to be layered at once, sometimes in different parts of the room, sometimes even different outfits/characters, different instruments, etc and then the nightmare editing must be. Plus him being kind enough to include captions, many times displayed creatively/uniquely on the screen) it’s just insane. He has so much talent and brings so much joy to us that it’s nice he can make a living helping us all. (And in more reasons to dislike the clock app, he’s mentioned that Australians don’t get paid on it for whatever reason, so he only/mainly has KZbin)

@@fancifuldevices this may be too detailed for you and I'm certainly not an expert, but if you wanna know, here is some of what I have read and been told: Many creators have said KZbin shorts aren't monetized so even if he gets millions of views for a short, he doesn't get money from it for whatever stupid reason. but it works out for many creators because they put tiktok stuff as shorts and they make the money on tiktok then use the shorts for exposure. but since austrialia isn't currently included in the tiktok creator's fund, he can't get money from that but even the creator's fund doesn't pay that well per view [but i've heard tom gets millions of views so he'd do better than many if he was able to be in the fund], so a lot of tiktokers do brand deals and consulting and stuff. I wouldn't care if tom did brand stuff as long as he gets paid well and we get a song out of it, but he's said before that he doesn't really like to do them (which I respect cuz I'm not a huge fan of a typal "influencer"). but he said in some interview that he was able to make a living off of youtube because he gets paid for his normal videos [non-shorts], which are any ones that aren't in the separate shorts category [and I know this one has to be because at the moment, shorts have to be below 1 minute long]
