Honestly they did a good job with only 5 episodes. My friend (never watched YYH btw) watched the live action with me and he really enjoyed it and could follow along pretty well. I just wish we had more episodes to see the teams relationship develop more naturally and so we could have the dark tournament. With this level of acting and choreography, it would've been amazing. It's a shame that they condensed so much into only 5 episodes.

They skipped over way too much content with character development and their training and had to change how the Dark Tournament went down which was really good in the anime. Becuase they only have 5 episodes. I genuinely don't know why fans are so irrational when it comes to this stuff. Anime pacing and storytelling does not work work with TV serialization. One Piece would not have been as successful if they just followed the original arc, it would have been a mess. Even if they had 50 episodes they wouldn't be able to tell the original story of the anime. It just doesn't work. Anime fans have to stop taking this kind of stuff as some kind of insult or disrespect and understand that the original medium just can't be replicated. The original story will always be there for people to enjoy, it wasn't destroyed or ruined. The Live Action would only work with a different plot, but they deserve praise for being able to preserve the characters and the tone.

Unfortunately this one disappointed me tbh. This was supposed to be a tournament in the spirit world; Taguro was supposed to carry the whole stadium floor they faugh on like an ant carrying a biscuit on its own. And Yusuke was supposed to beat him on his own.. Hiei was supposed to unlock the Jagon eye to it's fullest power and summon actual dragon sacrificing his arm a bit. This is just sad.. but considering that, had they made it exactly like the Anime people would be disappointed as well, they did a good job twisting it like this.

I disagree with the haters. I thought live action Yu Yu Hakusho was awesome. Every live action adaptation is going to be shorter than the source material and cut stuff out. This happens whenever a book is made into a movie or in this case a live action series spawns from an animated one. They only had 5 episodes and managed to fuse the spirit detective saga and dark tournament together. All of the characters looked and acted how they should. The fight scenes were great. And it had the spirit of the original series. I loved watching these characters come to life just one last time and I think this was a great way to pay homage to a 30 year old anime.

Which part of man does Satan destroy? Okay so 1) Yusuke would NEVER allow himself to get help in a fight. Its just not his thing. 2) torguro would have immediately killed hiei and kurama and keiko if he thought it would bring out all yusuke latent power (though he probably would have awoken the mazaku 2 seasons early) mmmm Idk man
