I used to run a pub in the lake district. We used to get very low flying jets coming over, for the sole practice of training for the pilots. A family sitting at one of my picnic tables were complaining about the 'noise', saying that it was ridiculous. I asked them "are these lads supposed to practice over hostile territory?". I told them straight, the pilots are British, Dutch, American and German, and that is the sound of freedom

Have non US forces stopped bringing over their own weapons now? Lately i keep seeing sims conducted within the US, with US m4/AR's. Nothing wrong with that i guess, as i suspect we in the UK will be going over to a new AR platform in some form or other before long anyways, (Though i'd not put a bet on the MOD in trying to foil that) the Royal Anglian Regiment are currently issued with the SA80 A2/3. Seems odd that they don't seem to have, or be allowed to train with them.

@@rossfulla Is it really that much of a pain for the UK to do this, i.e., bring their own weapons over for official training purposes? Being not only a NATO member but a close Ally of the U.S.? I'm not doubting you, I just had no idea it was such a big deal. I was U.S. Army years ago, but never got to train in the UK, so I don't know what the protocol would have been with bringing the unit's small arms to train with there.
@86pp73
@86pp73 4 ай бұрын
@@danielgreen6547 The US has really backwards laws on importing small arms that don't seem to have exemptions for military training (could be wrong, though). At least from what I can tell, the Ministry of Defence would have to fill out a massive amount of paperwork and deal with bureaucracy on the US side, all for a few battalions to bring their SA80s to a one-off exercise. It's simply not worth it.
@StrangeScaryNewEngland

@@86pp73 It's quite literally mindboggling how we have millions upon millions of firearms basically just lying around everywhere, almost anyone can get one, some people encourage you to get one, and some kids are practically handed guns as soon as they exit the womb, yet we make that much of a big deal out of our NATO allies bringing official weaponry for training purposes over the borders. This seems kind of flawed. Those blank firing adaptors are like flash enhancers especially at night. Spotting bad guys from muzzle flash signature is going to be much harder considering most militaries use flash hiders and (more recently) silencers. If training like this is conditioning soldiers to be able to spot muzzle flash from windows so easily, they'll be in for a rude awakening during the real thing.

Suppressors are standard issue, or atleast are becoming standard issue in the USMC and the US Army because they got the budget to afford it which is around $800 each for a military grade suppressor. The UK however doesn't have the budget and only provides suppressors for special forces and snipers

@@jonathonmaloney9953 Right, brit here. This is UK military, for several reasons: 1: The equipment here used by them (aside from the rifles) is british. The camo used is not US multicam, its British Multiple Terrain Pattern (MTP), furthermore, the "webbing," or PLCE (personal load carrying equipment) seen here is british, infact the vast majority of it comes from the Virtus Issue program, although a minority are also from the Osprey issuement program. 2: The rifles. You mentioned the weapon systems used by them are indeed, the M4A1, the reason being is simply logistics. Can you imagine the sheer amount of paperwork, logistical measures, security measures that take place for the Ministry of Defence to transport several hundred live rifles overseas? Its a lot, a fuck ton, if you pardon my french. 3: The accents. Mate, I don't know what sort of accent you think it is, but its 110% british, specifically a North London or Essex accent. hope this helps.

@@TheIceman567 Yes for the former. I lived in both Californian and Florida for a couple of years in each - Enjoyed the experience even if I have no great desire to relive it. I'm married to an American lady and have been so for 37 years (she is now a British citizen) Most Americans are good hearted, generous and friendly. Served as an integral part of two American units over the years and enjoyed the experience. My in-laws, of course still live there and I wish only good things for the US in general as it would impact on half my family. Like any other nation on earth, of course they have their fair share of arseholes and tossers but in general, pleasant people to live, work and play with. Why do you ask?
