Can you do permaculture in an area that can be 0ºc (32ºf) in the morning, and 21ºc (68ºf) in the afternoon? What if growing days could see as much as 16 1/2 hours of sunlight in a day? These are some of the challenges of growing food in Calgary Alberta, and in this video you will learn how an urban farm can thrive in this climate!
In this video I interview Carmen and Christian from Urban Farm School. In this interview, we cover the high points of their property and classroom. On their property, they are demonstrating rainwater harvesting, no-till gardening, food forestry, rainwater harvesting, season extension and hail protection structures.

Thanks for the work you do, Rob & Michelle. Thanks for the education and inspiration you provide. And thanks for boosting others like Carmen & Christian. Bright ideas and bright hope in a bleak winter and bleak outlook.

Having toured their incredible garden, the video only covers a fraction of some of the amazing things they've created and done. If you have the opportunity, I'd highly recommend setting up a visit and a tour - you will learn lots!

This needs more attention. I am so grateful this farm is in Calgary! THE Alex Community food hub in Forest Lawn in Calgary is a great example of more permaculture gardens in Calgary. I hope to see more and more of this. Thank you for this.

I am here in Ottawa so I am assuming if you can grow many different plants in a challenging weather system, I will be able to also, hopefully my husband will build some structures for me like yours 😊

Improperly Titled. This is an infomercial. More appropriately it should be titled Urban Farming & Cold Climate Permaculture School out of Calgary Alberta. No tips or education was given and so the title as is is misleading.
