Two hours to fish before it got too hot outside. Texas needs rain. This section of creek is as urban as it gets. Rod: TFO Pro II 3wt 7’6” Reel: Orvis Battenkill II #texasflyfishing #panfish #flyfishing

I used to fish Onion Creek back in the early 90's anywhere from the Old San Antonio Hwy up to William Cannon. Caught the biggest bass and perch of my life out of there. Good fishing.

Well done! I’ve got a real soft spot for overlooked (and often under-fished) urban and suburban waters. You do a great favor for little creeks by emphasizing their beauty, instead of dwelling on the ugliness where “civilization” intrudes. Little waters like that need advocates, and all the help they can get.

Thank you! This is one of the best comments I have ever received. I really do try to convey the beauty in Urban Streams. I find it beautiful that even though infrastructure and civilization intrude on Mother Nature, she still finds away to make her mark. I have always wondered if that it is conveyed in my videos, mainly because I hardly speak in them. I am happy it is showing through however.

David, I have fly fished for decades. Always on small mountain streams with steep gradients and for trout. We now live in Leander Tx. I watched your videos on fly fishing Onion Creek and a couple other locations. Would you please list the size of fly rod , leader and tippet you suggest I use. I will be fishing from banks. I find your videos very interesting and informative. Thanks

I use a few different rods but tend to favor the smaller wt rods. I use a 3wt 7’6ft for most trips to the creek. But I usually wade, I would go no shorter that 7’6ft rod so it’s easier to back cast if you are casting in areas with no casting room.
