It was statement supposedly written by TGV, but posted by one of the admins (Matthew Jackson). It was posted on January 27. You can search for it on the UGWC Facebook page. Everyone has been clamoring for an “official statement,” and that’s the closest thing I’ve seen. People can think/believe whatever they want. That’s just what I saw.

I don't know if this helps viewers but I wear the 42mm Squale 30 atmos ceramic - à very similar watch to this one. I can categorically assure people it is considerably nicer quality than the steinHart ocean 1. The Squale has better proportions - more a classic style. I have handled the SteinHart and it is much flatter across the case - I did not find this attractive. The steinHart I handled only had the aluminium bezel insert but the ceramic version on my Squale is far nicer IMO, and looks a lot better than the online pics of the SteinHart ceramic. the Only thing I am not so keen on is the clasp. There is nothing wrong with it - it has a little dive extension etc - but it is just unremarkable. The rest of the watch is of a much higher standard. Personally I absolutely love the oversized crown. I am absolutely delighted that I did not buy a SteinHart. The 30 atmos is a clear level above IMO. I own a Tudor as my 'best' watch and Wear the Squale as my daily wearer. I highly recommend it.

I think the Steinhart Diver's are around US$400, which is like US$170 cheaper (or at a 29% discount). However, I am not certain whether the Steinhart finish is the same, better or worse than the Squale's.... Never seen either in the flesh.

Had a question regarding Nomon watches....Since they’re located in Asia (Singapore I think), did you have to pay any import taxes, tariffs, or fees? And shipping....was it included with purchase? I just hope TGV is alright. He seems like a nice person. Back to the watch. I don't know why watch snobs hate Squale watches. They are Swiss made watches. I would need to try one out to give it an honest opinion. They look to be decent watches and not everyone can afford an expensive watch like Rolex, AP, and PP. Better to invest that kind of money in a safe way I think, but if you are wealthy and that kind of purchase does not even hit the radar I can understand. Also the ETA 2824 you can get serviced just about anywhere. Rolex service is very expensive. So are other expensive brands.

@@JustWatchreviews How is the quality of the bracelet? I traded a Seiko Diver watch that was made in Japan and the value went up on it. and I traded a guy for a Tisell marine diver. The watch itself is decent, a homage to the Submariner, but the bracelet is a little sharp for me and could be better. Of course, I could swap it out. Seen some videos on it.

Squale became a popular target because TGV used to promote them quite enthusiastically, compounded by their introduction of an homage line; it became an easy point of mockery for his detractors. Personally, I always like Squale in spite of my taste for high end. My background is in vintage tool watches and it is still my passion. Without getting too much into that, I will say they make a solid watch and I absolutely love my 1521, but I never was in favor of their decision to dabble in homages.

"They're swiss made" No, they're swiss assembled. The actual watch case is made in china and they just buy eta movements from swatch. They throw them together, and ship them back out to their main retailer (gnomon) in singapore while bragging about their past watch cases that originally put them on the map. The old squale and the squale today are two different entities. This combined with the fact that half their product line is just a bunch of submariner ripoffs makes the hate that squale receives perfectly understandable

When I watched the THC episode with Seven Samurai I wondered why he used so much straight footage. I thought it was to much for fair use and it looks like they got him for it.. In the future he will need to use shorter amounts of footage or modify/adapt it to make it his own. Or licence it but I would guess it would be expensive for such footage. I would have thought he knew better, he used to make music that was licenced for ads etc... I believe.

Copyright is a real thing. Images on the internet aren't free. It's hard to enforce for sure but the Photographer had proof and simply reported him the KZbin. With regard to "The first theft would be the picture of the watch" this is not the case unless there are specific copyright laws covering products. I have not seen any evidence of this with vintage watches at least, these are more typical for People and places. Don't miss TGV one bit. Unsubscribed from his channel about a year ago. Good riddance. Much prefer supporting the humble, smaller guys. To each his own though. Just my 2¢. Good review. Thanks for pointing out some of those design peculiarities. I think the crown would likely be a problem for me since I wear my watches on the bone. Wouldn't mind the bracelet on my 6-1/2" wrist, but good to bring it to our attention. The cyclops looks to actually be usable. I generally find the magnification too small and wonder why designers even include them if they aren't going to actually work for the wearer. Another thoughtful review.
